Attached Link: Need help ! Same old problems

I'm trying to make a cupboard/cabinet. I build 3 objects in MAX, the frame and two doors, export as obj. I put them in the UV Mapper, made textures and so on. I imported them in Poser, put everything in place, put on the textures, moved the pivots to the corner of the doors and made the doors child objects of the frame. Now the problems : I seems impossible to make a prob of it. I have 3 parts, hierachy and so an. Ok, but I can make a character of it. Sounds great but won't work. If I do so, I loss the textures, the hierachy and the pivots move back to the center of the objects. Whats wrong ? Is there an essential step I'm missing ? Is it possible to make probs with hierachy and moveable parts ?

First, you need to parent the doors to the body of the cabinet so that they are "locked" to it. Then display the origins for each of the doors (ctrl+i) and, using the dials, move the origins to the very edge of where the doors meet the cabinet-body. you may want to move the centres of origin to the middle of the width of the door as well. Then set up your rotation using the dials (rename the dial that actually opens the door to open) and delete any unwanted dials using CR2 Editor by J Stallings. Then select the body of the cabinet and save as a prop - including the doors. Paul

Paul stated it quite succinctly and correctly... that's the way I do poseable props.. side note.. whilst within the Cr2 Editor... ensure that the parenting is maintained..... afore the patch it had a tendancy to reparent everything to universe... ) Not too sute about after-patch.. havent had the time to check )

::Grins and touches wood:: So far I haven't had a problem with things being reparented with the patch installed. Paul

Paul, I know it saves the parenting in smart mode... so it should maintain the relatinships... al long as the origins are moved as you stated up above ) May the Fey always be kind to ye ) Cheers
