Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this sort of question. But I wanted to post to ask for opinions, as I'm horrible with making decisions sometimes! Again, I am tweaking my character in Poser. I'm getting happy with the morph results. There's always things you see with your characters you want to improve.

Anyway, I made a collage if you will using different parts of textures for my first texture, but I wanted something more realistic. So I edited another one I have (for personal use only of course!) of SteffyZZ's texture Leo by lightening it up. I must say it comes close, but still doesn't quite achieve the look I'm after (altho it's agreat texture!). Looking at the marketplace, it's great to see more textures for M3 with a lighter skin tone (with pinkish undertones like his.) Most textures I try for him are too peach or too tanned. I have found two great textures that just might work, with perhaps some slight alterations to add freckles (again for my own personal use.) So the main key here is the tone and look of the skin (the eyebrows I can fix, or any small alteration for my own personal use.)

Ok, this NOW leads to my question LOL! (You're prolly thinking, "finally!") Which of these two textures in the marketplace would be best, in your own opinion, for this character? I'm supplying a photo of the character and the reference to the real person so you can accurately judge.

The links to the two textures I am considering are:

Of the two you mentioned, I think Robert will be closest. Great morphing btw. One little thing: It may be the focal but on your version he looks quite a lot wider in the face than the guy on the photo (whom I suppose I outta know the name of...)

I agree. Robert would be the closest and I also agree with the morphing. Wonderful :)

I agree with ernyoka1. The Robert is a better match (at least to the reference photo) and the face is a tad too wide. Also, IMO, the lower lip could be just a tiny bit fuller. Great job though...

Checking in to see how the voting is coming along... :) The reason why it's so hard for me to decide is the other one besides Robert has more of his "eyebrows" and Robert does not, but I do agree Robert has a lot of realism to his skin. Ernyoka1: Thank you for bringing the focal to my attention. In some of his pictures his face looks wider than others. I believe they use one of those "fish eye" type lenses that makes the face seem narrower. I went to check out the settings and I had it up to 400! Yipes! I must've had it that setting for another render. I have changed it back to 200 and he looks MUCH better. Thanks again! Kayjay97: Thanks for your vote and comments! Guslaw: Thank you for your vote as well! The wideness came from the focal the camera is on, as Ernyoka1 pointed out. It's hard to tell with his lip, with close ups his lower lip is not well defined from the skin tone to the line of his lip, so sometimes it looks fuller than others. But yes I do notice it needs to be pulled down in the middle just a tad. Thanks everyone for their suggestions! And PLEASE keep the votes coming! So far Robert is in the lead. --RnRWoman

I think that Robert is the best bet too mainly because he has the pale skin that is predominant in the Celts. My family are descended from the Irish and all the males have that pale, white skin, with a touch of rose. 8) Catlin

I would say Robert and hope the texture I sent over is helping ...

I'll chime in and say Robert.

I think Robert too, and that's a great job on the morphing, well done.

...if you're running P5, or are using a good paint program, you can try to get the best of both worlds. In Photoshop or another paint program: Take the closest texture you have and open it. Then add the second texture as a new layer. Try the different options on the second texture (transparent on normal at 50%, or on add or multiply starting at no transparency and working your way down until a closer match). In P5 use the Color Math function with the two textures to blend them (higher memory use though, since you'll be loading two texture sets). Combining two textures this way gives some interesting effects. Here's Leo and Robert combined using the P5 method with each texture set at 50% strength.

Hey that's a neat trick, pdxjims! Thanks for that idea :o)

Thanks for all of the help, and comments regarding my morphing! :)

Ghostofmacbeth: Yes, your texture helps very much thank you! I think I may plan to overlay it onto the face of Robert and see if I can get it to mix in.

Pdxjms: Thank you for sharing this advice with us! I'll try that and see what happens.

TMGraphics: I haven't heard from you in awhile! How are ya?

And a big thanks to Stacey_73 who helped with his body shape/scaling!

I wasn't expecting so much votes so thank you all for your votes and for your help! I really appreciate it. :) I think the winner texture here is Robert and I noticed he just went on sale, YAY!! So I believe I'll invest in him tonight and see how it works. If I get the render to be presentable I'll post here to show everyone who has helped out how it's coming along.

Now if I can just find the right hair prop to do a quickie render with. :P (I usually like to paint the hair.)
