I was needing a texture for the Gremlins, as I use them in a LOT of images. After finding none, I decided to try my hand at creating my own. I am a few days into this project, with a few days to go, as I want to get as detailed as I can to make it worthy of the Market Place. (Or at the very least, the Free Stuff area) Any help, suggestions or ideas are greatly appriciated, as I really don't know what I'm doing, I'm just kinda winging it so far. Thanks for your advice and comments, Rich (I included the original Gremlin in the image to remind you all what he looks like) :)

I don't have any suggestions, but what you've done looks great so far. I would say it's more than winging it certainly. So maybe that's some encouragement if needed. I look forward to seeing the result! Dave

The texture looks good but the eyes are a bit dull to me. Try to mimic the iris pattern in real eyes a bit. If you have Photoshop I can show you a nice trick to make eyes.

I will never turn down the chance to learn something new. I followed a tutorial I found for making eyes, and it was pretty good, but I would like to know how you create them. I am very fluent with Photoshop, so I will be able to follow what you are saying. I appriciate the help. I'm also following the thread from the person asking for help in getting her texture "download ready" so other people can use it. This project is really making me appreciate the work people put into the human photorealistic textures! :) Thanks again for the help Rich rich@ameeron.com

OK Now I can't see your eyes really up close, so perhaps you DID use this method, but anyway, here it is: On the template, make a new layer and fill it with the base-colour of the eyes, a little larger than the actual template. Make another layer and fill that with a gradient, the base colour and a lighter (or darker version of it, make it repeat a few times to make a slight ripple effect. Then of the first layer, put a monochromatic noise, fairly large grains. Use a radial blur, zoom, on that to make the grains into streaks all going from the center. Overlay the gradient, with either Overlay or Multiply depending on what effect you want. The blur makes it very light at the outer rim, which is why it's a good idea to make the original fill a bit larger than needed. Lastly on a new layer, put on the pupil. You CAN add a new layer with a glint, some like it, some don't.

Cool, Very similar to what I used, but I didnt start with the template, I resized it down to fit over it. I have noticed in some study over the weekend, that the colored portion of the eye is lightly too large. I'm going to reduce that and give your eye's a try. Thanks, Rich
