Cartoonish space suits often have rings at knees and elbows (for easier bending). Think rubber tires for the shape. They also usually have a radio antenna sticking out of the helmet (either top or side). With lack of air, the only way to communicate is by beaming a message or status. Since the back is square, do you plan to have oxygen tanks or something in kit form? The booties should have thick soles (one of the few times they are needed) and be magnetized for walking outside of the ship without flying off to mercury. He will need gloves, too (no part of the skin can be exposed to space). Realistic spacesuits will have ID patches, and pockets for zero-g pens or cameras or small tools, and enough hoses to give Giger fits. Keeping it simpler and rounded will help with the "cute appeal".
