I want Poser not to look for Don when it starts up. Any ideas?

Delete Don and go to Edit, General Preferences, click Launch to Preferred State and then click Set Preferred State and hit OK. Your new document should then open without Don.

load up the figure you want it to look for (or no figure if that's the case) Then go to: Edit>Preferences>Set Preferred State Make sure the Launch To Preferred State is checked and click ok Not sure if it's the same on Poser 5 or ProPack but thats how it is in my Poser 4.

I change my default to whichever character I am mostly using at the time (often the newest one!). Right now it is Dark Whisper's brilliant hippo - now if only I could get it to work properly with mimic....
