I posted a while back about buying the Nikon Coolpix 5700...I changed my mind the minute I read about the 8700 coming out. I've preordered it...I'm going to transport it in a protective Pelican case. I'm looking at lower end digital cameras for my girlfriend...who is rather new with photography, but doesn't want to deal with film...well, its more like me who doesn't want her to deal with film :) I'm looking at a Fuji Finepix I think its called...its 3 megapixal with some pretty impressive specs for its price. Anyone use this camera or know which one I'm talking about? Any comments or suggestions would be helpful... thanks Jordan

I have a Fuji Finepix S602z, 3.1 megapixel. Maybe thats the one you're talking about? http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujis602z/ I bought it at beachcamera.com for little over $500. Kim

I've bought a Finepix S5000 which is the little brother to the S7000. I upgraded from an Oly because I wanted a larger zoom (10x) and a lens adaptor thread. It's a fantastic camera and only cost me 299 GBP. So about $600 but Bestbuy have it for $399. It's 3.1 megapixels, but doubles up somehow to 6megapixels. And saves as raw. And no, I don't work for Fuji. ;-)
