Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
Did you check with Phil first about redistributing the wings? He's known here at Renderosity as LordNakagawa.
I checked the readme file (see below). It almost seems to imply that PhilC created the obj file, but maybe that's just some inadvertent mis-spelling that Hokusai. Anyway, it would be interesting to see who did the obj file, since it's so nice they probably would want to be credited for it. ------------ ANGEL WINGS MESH - Copyright (C) 2000 Phil Hokusai INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1) Copy this self-extracting archive to your Poser root directory. Do NOT put it in the Runtime directory! It will automatically extract the files to the following paths in your Poser directory: wings9.obj and wings9.rsr -> RuntimeGeometriesPhilC wings9.cr2 and wings9.rsr -> RuntimeLibrariesCharacterAnatomy 2) You may delete the self extracting archive if you wish. 3) Start Poser. Go to your Characters library sidebar and from the sub-libraries, select "Anatomy." You should see the new angel wings icon. 4) Add it to your desired figure and start renderin! NOTES: I am not the author and I take no credit whatsoever for the creation of the wings model. I merely did the scutwork by providing the template, .obj and.rsr file to help out another user texture the wings. Special thanks to Steve Cox for his "UV Mapper" program - a valuable application for the Poser and 3D modelling community. Nuke (nuke172@yahoo.com)

If it turns out that you can indeed distribute this revised version, PlanIt3D would be happy to host it for you. Stop by and PM Fitzy regarding any files you'd like hosted. This applies to other 3D file formats as well.Mateo, yes, I see what you mean. But these wings I have are wings5.obj and wings5.phi, as well as wing7.pz3. So it appears they are not what you have but an older version. This is the readme.txt in its entirety: ______________ I feel this has really been needed. Now how much do you want to bet that Zygot is gonna come out with an angel figure? The wings are not my design but some anonymous post. Who ever made it thanks So lets get to the basics Hers how to make it work. Copy the OBJ file into the Geometries folder into a directory named "wing2" Then open the Poz file and install wher you whatever libary you want. There is a body part, a box, called center. This is equivelent to the Hip in the humna tomove the whole thing just move the box. Once inplace you man want to make it invisible. I made a scale error so the body scale is less then 1%. To change it douple click it and enet the number. Ther is a little problem with a crease in the right wing. If anyone can lick it please tell me. Thats about it, unless you want to send me money. Phil Hokusai hokusaiv@aol.com ______________________ Since I didn't use the PHI supplied, but created the hierarchy from scratch in Poser and corrected the crease and the scaling... Nevertheless, I will IM Hokusai to tell him about it and ask his opinion on the matter. wolf, no, there's no texture, just a texture map. But I do have appropriate photos of feathers for texture and even a transmap for the pinions. Check my Photo gallery. Ben, thanks. As soon as I clear this up, I'll contact Fitzy. After all, I'm a member there, too, and have downloaded tons of stuff.

Isn't Varian the angel wing expert? IIRC, he had a bunch of them on his site with comparisons. It is possible that he knows who did the original mesh. (I'm going on memory, so if it wasn't Varian, it was somebody!) I am intrigued by them going into PhilC's folder, though. You might ask him what he knows about these wings, too! Carolly
I had checked Varian's site and the wings are attributed to Virus and Hokusai. But the link is dead. Just like several other wings' links on the page. I contacted Hokusai and he said that he has no objections but he thought the wings were from DAZ eagle. No, they are not, I have the eagle and the mesh is quite different. And he didn't say anything about Virus. Also, I checked here, DAZ, 3D Commune and Turbo Squid. All of them have angel wings of one kind or another, but not a single model looks like the angel wings I have. So, it will be a freebie. And there will be a texture. :-) I will announce it here.

Dead links are often a problem with older items. Virus is a founder of the PropsGuild, which used to be free and then went membership or subscription. I don't know if the wings are originally from that site, or if Virus made them and had them on another site back in the dim prehistory... but you can probably check. CarollyI made the original mesh of the angel wings a looonnnnggg time ago, and because at those days I was really new using poser I had no Idea about how to convert them to poseable items, Phil Hokusai did it, unfortunallety he never gave me the credit of that. After learning well poser I was able to remade my angel wings and aplied them a map with UV mapper, some of the propsguild's comunity members was going to make some nice textures for them, but it was not possible till today because the person who is going to make the textures has been pretty busy lately (2 years) LOL. I'm not against the re distribution of the file, but what makes me feel bad is that the credit for the geometry has been forgotton since first Hokusai's release. Best Regards Virus
SAL9000 - Hello Dr. Chandra, Will I've dream?
...and it is good to know who made them originally. Thank you, I'll add your name to the file. We can use a wide variety of wings: simple ones for distance and complex ones for close-ups, so even the older ones come in handy. Perhaps you and Erlik can get together and release the modified and posable wings for several figures? Texture artists can step in once the mesh is out there. Carolly

I've updated my angel wings list/links to include Erlik's newest revision of Virus's wings - and the news about the reconstruction Virus has done on the original model. Looks like the best has just gotten better. :)Oh, damn. I didn't see this thread before I sent another IM to you, Virus. Anyway, I would be more than happy to work with you on creating an updated, even more poseable version, as hauksdottir suggests. I've got a couple of ideas. I also have a couple of ideas (and resources) for the texture, but we'll see about that. I'll also see with Fitzy over at Planit 3D to include an updated info in the readme, together with your answer to my question.
