I photo'd the goose on the same day as the robin. The problem I see with the image is the shadow. I tried to pick out the eye's detail which looks ok on my screen and should print out ok on my printer but when someone else opened it, it was too dark around the face and you lost all detail. Let me know what you think.

I see plenty of detail in the goose, looks fine on my screen. :) What may help is the time of day that you take these kind of pictures, it seems that the lighting is almost midday or somewhere around there and they provide the most difficult lighting situations, believe me I know. lol. Still nonetheless a fine shot!

I would say, that image is sharp enough, nice focus and all and like friend Drmz just said it, it seems to be midday around when the sun is out there and shining well, it makes it a it difficult due to the excessive lights. Also the fact that this goose is standing in the background of water and the sunlight is shining from there too is making the image appear darker. Thats what I feel. Maybe, you were planing on getting the details more but the result is good as far as I can see. :O)) SNAKEY

Thanks guys, I was out and about all day and my wife, daughter and I stopped of at a park in the afternoon. I had the camera with me so I thought why not. I did not think I would find anything worthwhile but I did get a few images I liked. The midday sun was a problem but I don't think it stops it being an half decent image? It would have been better with the sun at a lower angle but was only passing through so did not have time to wait for better lighting.

I think it's a great image, as has already been said, contrasty light can be a problem... the exposure looks great for the most part, but because the face and eye are black the details got lost there... Next time you're out and about, in this sort of lighting situation, try using a bit of fill flash and see how you make out with it....
