I remember a thread on this problem but can't find it now, I am trying to install poser SR4 and it throws the cannot find poser 5 in this directory. Can anyone point me to the right thread

Just another CL bit of clever programming - it can't find a known directory... (It needs to be installed in the same directory as it's to be installed in - a concept that died out right along with DOS ver. 2 I think it was.) Ignore its demonstrated lack of good programming, click Continue, and then Browse to find it yourself. Or take it as an indicator of things to come, and go no further ;-)

I tried to browse to the folder and it still came up with the error grumbling LOL yep i am sure it's an indicator. which is snafu all the way

This is probably obvious, but just in case as the installer doesn't say anything about it, the target folder you are expected to know to browse for is Poser (not Runtime). But if that's not the problem, and you are still intent on playing Poser 5 Roulette, I'm thinking that copying the SR4 exe into the Poser 5 folder first and executing it there will work. It appears to have been what the programmer who wrote the installer, and CL's QA dept(?), did.

I copied it to poser 5 folder and ran it and it didn't work and yep it was pointed to and copied to the Poser folder. I am not sure yet if I want to update but possible since i do a lot of testing and need to make sure things work with the new update too :(

Try a new download?

Lol Tried that too. I emailed tech support. Wonder if they will answer.

SR4 could not find Poser5, so I moved SR4 into the poser5 dir. SR4 still said that it could not find Poser5 then I just clicked the browse button and then I think it worked, I may have had to click "Next" even though it could not find P5.

I couldn't link to the P4 runtime folder ... had to copy all my runtime from P4 to P5 ... all 15 gigs. Sheesh. Still it locks up on large renders. Sigh Boni

well I figured out the problem so here's a warning. when you are reinstalling all your software after a crash/upgrade whatever and install propack be careful not to install it to poser 5 it will work but will be a mess. That's why my poser 5 wouldn't take the patch i had to redo it completely.. k so I am blond too .. lol
