Subject: Props and Tutorials I would like to see

While I was sitting looking at my empty poser window some thoughts came to me per'aps someone could steer me in the right direction... I'm a history nut (for those of you who don't know me), I would like to do some historical renderings. does any one know of... 1. A Civil War or Reveloutionary war drum prop? 2. A place where I can get Uniforms of periods other than WW2 or present periods? 3. Is (are) there a tutorial(s)on how to make clothes and such with Poser4 and pro pack? I do have Mike3 but I also want to use the other poser figures as well. Like the poser boy for a drummer boy and the p4 adult male for a "filler" figure.

At VH you should find some links to historical reference and they also have some period props for free. 8) If you're serious about doing historical images, a subscription to PoserWorld would be good. There are all sorts of period props and costumes for various poser figures. You cam find PW at the link. 8) Catlin

Also look at Greylight and Ghastley Software for some more things.

For Tutorials, the issue you will find you face most often is that Poser itself is not a modelling application. Search through Freestuff here, and head on over to EnglishBob's website and you can find a very large assortment of primitives you can assemble easily into much more complex objects. The link is to the Renderosity Tutorials section, and I recommend looking into the archives especially -- while there are a lot of dead links, many are still quite alive and very worthwhile.

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

Zippy in free stuff here has some civil war firing positions for battlefield scenes. The small military drum hasn't changed that much, so finding a workable version shouldn't be too hard, and you can use a cylinder prop for the fife. Pam Chohole created several civil war images, but mostly of leave-taking or dancing at saloons and such rather than warfar. You might peek at her gallery and see which props she managed to find and use. Carolly

http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=580022&Start=1&Sectionid=0&filter_genre_id=0&Form.Search=chohole&Form.Criteria=ALL I think this will get to Pam's full gallery here. Use lower case "chohole" to find her images and free stuff. I was wrong, there are some battlefield images... "killing your brother", for example. Search in Free Stuff for "zippy", again with the lower case (sorry) and you can find his buildings as well as the Civil War stuff. Carolly
