Geep, this tutorial is really fantastic ! As a result of this tutorial, I thought that I would issue myself a challenge and clone DinaV via Judy and the Face Room. I took front and side shots of Dina and opened them in the Photo Lineup section. I had a lot of problems with the eyes. Judy has very round eyes, but Dina has very narrow slitty eyes. There is a control point at the top of the eye, and one at the bottom of the eye. When I attempted to move one control point, the other moved as well. In short, the two control points above and below the eyes tended to work against each other, and I couldn't get the narrow eye shape. Do you have any ideas, suggestions etc. ? thanks, Andrew

...and this was the state of the Face Room when I rendered the hideous Judy-Dina cross !

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 12:44 AM

Perhaps you can set a pin to keep the lower eye in place while you move the upper? I haven't quite tried the pins yet, but I'm sure the good Doc will explain about them soon :o)

I could say those eyes blue me away, but I won't. ;^) Bagle, anybody? Mathman... try using Dina's face on Don, and see what you get.

mathman ( ) posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 2:35 AM

Maybe I will get a character called "Dino" haha. I'll give it a try and see what I come up with.

In a world of perfection, a one-sided dimple or a gapped tooth can help you stand out... as some very well paid models discovered. Although a strong dollop of symmetry is needed for physical beauty, the little quirks make a face look real.

diolma ( ) posted Tue, 09 March 2004 at 6:46 PM

Drat! I Got strong dollops of quirks and little symmetry :-(( .. and I'm male, too.. :-((((( (Sorry - couldn't resist..:-)) Cheers, Diolma

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 09 March 2004 at 9:15 PM

Diolma, Would you rather look like Ken? After years of keeping his plastic persona in a state of unwavering perfection... he gets thrown over (for some surfer dude?). Late-born babies usually have curved faces from lying in the womb that extra week or 3. However, we often have hair and other further developments and better health from that extra time soaking up nutrients. I'll trade a curved face and assymetrical body for a few extra brain cells any day! Carolly

diolma ( ) posted Wed, 10 March 2004 at 6:17 AM

LOL Carolly! I think my curved face came from lying in bed an extra decade or three... As for extra brain-cells, I just use a noise node plugged into the bump socket:-) Cheers, Diolma

Can you have more than one caricature dial?

geep ( ) posted Thu, 11 March 2004 at 10:08 PM

Carolly,

There is only one Caricature dial.

However, you can create a caricature and then "Spawn Morph Target," change the caricature setting and create another (separate) morph target.

Make as many MTs as you want without leaving the Face Room.

Does that answer your question?

Already printed it out! Thanks. For the record - the controls for the face room in P5 and P6 look identical. I think when I was researching whether to upgrade to P6 I read somewhere that for the most part, they are the same.
