I have a wacom tablet (smaller than what you are getting) I think it is 4x5 and I use it for alot of work...recolor, selecting, hand drawing, etc. and I love it. It's about a 50/50 split as to whether I am using the mouse or the tablet. I will warn you that it does take some getting used to and some thought when setting it up...especially if you work in larger sizes like 1024x768. Obviously the tablet is not that big, so you have to get used to moving the pen around to pickup where you left off...kind of like when you first learn how to use a mouse. It doesn't take long to adapt though and depending on how you set it up you may not need any adapting at all. Personally, I love mine and think it helps take anyone's computerized artwork to the next level with ease...of course this is just my very long winded :) opinion. Most of the time there is a 14-30 day return period at most stores, so try it...you can always return it if it doesn't work out but my bet is you'll love it.
Ummmmmmmmmm...
i use a 4x5 @ home and a 9x12 @ the office and they have never given me any trouble. both are a couple of years old and still going strong. only thing i've replaced if the "nib" in my stylus (guess i get a little aggressive sometimes ;)). both were well worth the money. i agree, it takes a little gettin used to at first but soon it'll be secondhand and you might even "hang up the mouse"...
PS. good price ($175)

i want to get a pen tablet for use on post work in bryce, poser, vue, etc. (never used or even seen one) i think it will aid in alot of post work in photoshop, where a mouse is too "clunky". ive been using photoshop for several yr and plan on continuing to do so. does anyone out there have a tablet?? do you like it?? and if you know, how does the "Wacom GRAPHIRE3 6x8 Pen Tablet" stack up?? its going for $175. and i'd love some feedback before buying it(or wasting my money!!) thanks , id love some clues on this problem, bodi
