from the readme file provided with the product ( link above ) it seems that the textures need to applied manually :0( <<...I don't know how about poser 5.You can use part of this product in Poser/Poser Pro Pack...There are two way to use it in Poser/Poser Pro...Another way is open the pz3 format files then delete or hide the items you don't need.Whatever which way, you need to set the material and load the texture maps manually...>>I'm amazed that this got thru texting. I thought the official policy was that the end user should be able touse the item with no fuss. I know you're supposed to supply MAT files if you have more than one texture with an item. Note: Props can't use MAT poses as such (unless they're parented) but should still have a texture applied.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Good heavens! I couldn't resist looking at that readme. I've never seen anything so disorganized in freestuff!

shadownet... you know, I just used that trick yesterday in order to be able to bring a "prop-type" hair into Vue. For some reason I can only import cr2's when I import a PZ3 to Vue. All props are stripped with a message that Vue can't find "thisandthat.obj" So I though if I made the hair into a character it would work. And it did :) I'll use that trick in the fuure for my props whenever they need to be able to use MAT poses. I'm thinking of updating my Kitche, as there's actually 2 texture sets with it, but becourse it's props, only the one of them is applied. Good idea :) Thanks

It's not only all the work of applying the textures manually. The problem is it's not 100% obvious in each object's case, which texture, if any, goes where, and also whether to change the base colour to white or not. Most of them are obvious but there's about 4 cases where it's not, and also there's the parts of the object too - do they each need the texture applied? The window is the most difficult thing, and the door frame. Love esther

Hi, I wrote to the model maker and he sent me a file which is called A_Realistic_Toilet_N.pzz I don't know this format. Will it work with poser 5. "the attatchment is a pose 4 pzz file , the texture have been assigned." Should I just rename it as PZ2 do you think? Love esther

I think the Poser 4 scene files are called "pz2" and Poser 5 are called "pzz". In general, manually texturising 3ds and obj files isn't what bugs me. It's when the material zones are called 1,2,3,4,....instead of "mirror", "wall", "door", etc. so you spend half a day trying to figure out what part of the model each material zone represents.
Hi, yes I did it and it worked beautifully. Thanks everyone. It's a really nice (very realistic) bathroom and the model maker was very helpful, so I do fully recommend it to anyone despite my problems. Love esther

Esther, glad you got this worked out. :O) ernyoka1, cool beans. Another nice thing about making a prop a figure, if you have pro pack or p5 (not sure if P4 will do this) is if you make the new figure the geometry is stored in the cr2 (like is common with a prop)until you resave it back to the library, then Poser will make a new object for it and put it in the same folder as the cr2 with the same name given to the cr2. So depending on your need -having the object geometries stored in cr2 or having object geometries pointed to by cr2 - you have either option to go with. :O) Also, being a figure you can use various pose files on the prop now, such as placement poses etc. So there are advantages and disadvantages - such as not being able to load the prop as a smart prop (though you can load and parent it to the figure).
Yes, most of the props in my Kitchen are parented props, parented to each other that is, so it would mean a total rebuild of the kitchen. But of course it's doable :o) It's just a bit time consuming, that's all. The Kitchen HAS external obj's btw, but you're right that it's also a way of getting rid of embedded geometry :o)

If the Kitchen has props parented to each other, you have a basic hierarchy going on. Select the top parent in the hiearchy window and make a figure. All the children will become body parts of the parent, but can still be worked in the scene like props. Might have to adjust jp settings but that should be simple. Done this way, the entire scene loads as a figure. You can hide body parts not needed - same as on a figure. Also, you can move body parts (props) around in the scene - like say that coffee pot (as example, not familar with your kitchen) from the stove top to the table top - via a pose file. You are pretty advanced, so you can no doubt figure all this out. However, if you need more help making this all one big prop-figure (as I call it), I will be glad to walk you through the process. If I were not already bogged down with too many other projects, I would offer to make the conversion for you - but just do not have the time for that. :O)
Rob
yeah.. I think I'll try to convert it. Prolly next weekend when I have some spare tme (IF I get some spare time.. Myfamily has this bizarre idea that they ALSO have a claim on me sometimes...) I'll keep your offer to help me in mind :o)

Where's my little yellow rubber ducky, someone stole my rubber ducky. That makes me so mad. Just wait till I get my hands on whoever took my ducky. Oh, hey, I never noticed I could see the ocean through the window from this angle. And...there goes my yellow ducky, waddling off to sea with all those other duckies. :O)

It comes with a pz3 and when I opened it I found there weren't any textures applied. Anyone else got this model? Did you have to load all the textures yourself and resave it, or am I doing something wrong? I'm using poser 5 and I think it's designed for P4. Any suggestions? Love esther
