Subject: Where are the rest?!

I just noticed something odd... Right now, it says, at the top, 1978 surfers currently online yet when I go to the "Who's online" the number is WAY smaller, listing 806 members currently logged in. As there's very little you can do on this site without being logged in, I wonder how 1172 people can be here and apparently do nothing?! Unless the "surfers online" is nothing but a marketing trick to make the site appear more busy than it is?! :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I think they are counting session-id's. Because I work with 2 or 3 computers and each has several windows open, I think I'm counted as up to 10 users :) Only a few users have only one window open at a time. So those figures are simply lies (and a wrong base for several calculations).

The number at top list "surfers" on line. The number at the bottom of who's on line list "members loged on". I don't know, but don't a lot of people have links to their gallery images posted eleswheres. In other words can't someone use a link to view a picture here...but not be a member or need to log in? Just took a look....almost 2000 surfers right now,but just over 1000 members loged in. If what I asked above is correct...seems like all that linking is what clogs up this site?(!)

As far as I know you need to be logged in to see the pictures in the galleries too... I know I have had some friends sign up to see mine...

OK...I just checked, and that's what it is. I logged out (tried to go to a forum to make sure I was logged out)...went to ZBrush Central, and clicked on someones link to their gallery here, and I was on. Still wasn't logged in,as I could not go elsewheres. So this site is clogged up by non-members.

They have to sign up to see your gallery? None of my friends or family have had to (not even those containing nudity).I think the total surfers number is all members and visitors. Great as the R'osity community is, not everyone joins it, lol.

If sombody has a link to view an image that they did,and I have to sign up for that site....I don't like that, and will pass. So I guess that's a good way to have it set up.

Site Admin

We have visitors that can view members gallerys' directly without having to be a member. Frontpage is viewable without having to be a member so it could be visitors that is why we say surfers instead of members at the top listing. Or it could be search engines using their bots or worms to update their information. The Who's Online is strictly members. thanks tammy
