roadrunner69 ( ) posted Tue, 16 March 2004 at 1:20 AM · edited Fri, 17 January 2025 at 10:58 PM

ALL .... ok .... In language a 'third grader' would understand .... just how in the dickens do you post a 'thumbnail' here so your pic 'shows' up??? .... THANKS KINDLY .... MUCH APPRECIATED .

2ND QUESTION .... can you 'change' a previous posting here to 'include a thumbnail'?? .... THANKS AGAIN.

When you upload your image, you have can browse for your image on your harddrive, and you can browse for your thumbnail, too. howto.jpg To add it to your already uploaded images, just click on edit under each image, and that upload screen will come up again. All you do is browse for your thumbnail...you don't have to reupload the main image.

SIMDRAGON .... hello and THANKS MUCH .... I think I understand all that .... Just a question (my FIRST pc....lol) .... If I have a 800x600 image that I 'upload' here without a 'thumbnail', it will obviously come up in those dimensions, as I have done that already .... I have "picture it 2002 premium" software program .... I see where there is a place where I can 'thumbnail' pics as I 'save' them .... If I 'check' the white square box to 'thumbnail' it, will I have to have a 'certain sized thumbnail' to 'fit' here at renderosity??? .... or, by me just 'thumbnailing/checking' the box on my ''picture it'' software, will it take care of it for me? .... thanks, again to you and ALL others willing to use their most valuable time to help out a complete 'idiot' .... lol.... roadrunner69.

Ooh, I don't have that software, so I'm not sure...sounds like that's exactly what it would do, though. If it does, it should save the thumbnail with the same filename you choose for the larger one...maybe in a different format, like .GIF, or maybe it adds a 'tb' to the filename? I swear, I used that software before...I should know this! LOL

To post a thumbnail on an image already in your gallery, go to your gallery and click on edit, it will take you to the upload page again. The boxes for the main image and the thumbnail will be blank. Don't worry, the main image is still there, just leave the upload image box alone. Click on the browse button beside Upload Thumb and navigate to it in exactly the same way you did to load your main image originally. Art images should be GIF or JPG format only....The thumbnail image should be between 50 x 50 and 200 x 200 pixels and be less than 15 kb in size. Most thumbnails in the gallery are 200x200. When you are done, click the upload box at the bottom of the page, your image should now have a thumbnail:-) Shoshanna

That would be click on the edit button under the image you want to add a thumbnail to. :-)

ALL .... hello .... thanks for your help .... "Art images should be GIF or JPG format only....The thumbnail image should be between 50 x 50 and 200 x 200 pixels and be less than 15 kb in size. Most thumbnails in the gallery are 200x200. " .... I think I've finally got most of it .... lol.... thanks for being patient! .... lol .... the 'only' thing my feeble mind is still trying to figure out is, "How" do you know or get the 'thumbnail' pic to the 'required' sizes above??? ... roadrunner69.

roadrunner69 ( ) posted Tue, 16 March 2004 at 5:31 PM

OK .... lol .... so, I should 'resize' an 800x600 pic to 200x200 and THEN 'thumbnail' it? .... sorry! .... roadrunner69.

You could resize the entire image if you want to, or crop one part of the image, resize that to 200 x 200 and use that as a thumbnail. Most people tend to use just one part of their image as the thumbnail. Here is a link to a tutorial on resizing your images for the web which might help. Shoshanna :-)

SHOSHANNA & ALL .... woohooo! .... success! .... I have ''picture it 2002 premium'' software .... If anyone else uses it, you can 'change' pixel sizes and 'check' the 'thumbnail' square and 'save' your pic for 'thumbnail' uploading here .... as stated above, your 'thumbnail' pic should be less than 200 pixels in size and below 15kb when done .... my first few 'thumbnail' pics I sized to 200 width .... they fell within'/below the 15kb limit .... the last pic I sized, however, to 200 pixel width, was slightly over at 17kb due to 'more' content / density within those parameters, apparently? .... so, I just went back and re-sized that specific pic to 175 pixel width and I came in at about 13.5kb .... THANKS, AGAIN to all above ..... MUCH APPRECIATED.

FOLLOW UP .... I resized the 'entire' pic to 'thumbnail' .... have not yet tried just 'thumbnailing' a 'portion' of the pic.
