Subject: Cyclorama Tutorial

Does anyone know where there might be a tutorial for the DAZ Cyclorama tucked away? I've spent about an hour searching online and have yet to find anything. Thanks.

DAZ has one in the members only section of their forum. I don't know if that is available to everybody now or just Platinum Club members

What sort of tutorial? Do you mean for making textures, for general useage, or some other topic? Members here might be able to help you with specific Cyclorama issues.

making textures; I render the top at 1056x426 and merge the bend with a 956 x 896 render - its smoother than a i.e 1300 x 1500 render, but thats just me, I like to tinker. lights and the cyclorama are a bit clunky if you have only p4 - i you're higher up the psoerchain, trav has a fake hdri tut at rdna ~S

Remember if you are taking photos take 5 photos 3 kneeling. ..center, center left, center right and stitch together 2 standing aiming at feet for matching ground cover. -Regards, Anton antonfindmelater

Hey Anton, Enjoying your Woodlands Playset 2 - it's so lush and the long x-axis is unusual - good to be able to use a variety of camera angles without falling off an edge. Getting nice result with several LoveyBear creatures walking around and behind the trees and bushes. (It's a departure for me, for a gift, not a paying project.) Although it takes a fair amount of tweaking of the figures' y-axis to adjust for the "hilliness", that gives a much more natural look - Elisa/gryffnn

Cool. Glad you like em. I put alot of thought into making them. Daz didn't like em. Glad the public does though. They have been a huge hit. My friend Merrilyn made LoveyBear, I will tell her you enjoy it. Thanks, Anton

Anton: I've ben having a lot of with the playsets, too. Playset 2 is the environment for my adventure strip here: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=621617 I do have one disappointment though. Both set 1 and 2 use the same (excellent) tree wall background although one set is described as woods and the other as woods bordering on a meadow. It would have been nice to have a backgound that transitioned into the meadow. Nonetheless, great job.

You mean "Grassy Clearing" it is the left side of Playset One where there are no trees. Daz booted me before I finished the Meadow Texture Set and Beach Sets I had planned. Oh well. Textures can do alot. There were actually 10 Playsets planned(5 outdoor and 5 indoor). I always wanted someone to do a swamp but noone ever would. The floor of the playset is the water and the plants are all transmapped 1/2 way up so they look submerged(reeds and grass etc). The trees are then textures to look partally wet and submeregd. The Floor is textured with a few lilypads and such. Then you put a boat or something in it. The hills around the edge are the banks of the swamp. Anyway that was the idea I kept pushing. That and also Jungle.

anton, I know this is probably a huge traed secret, but I have to ask. I am in awe at ther richness of the renders your cyclorama's create. they hold their details and are so incredbly rich. How do you get them to do that? I soot with a digital camera and mine don't look like that. do you render the digital stills somewhere elese before you put them on the cyclorama. They are awesome. Total quality.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Tue, 16 March 2004 at 9:55 AM

Thanks. That is really nice of you. I don't use one photo. I take three for the background and stitch them together. Then I post work them like a gallery image to clean up minor things. I then adjust the ambience of the cyc to match the look and lighting of the texture.

The playsets are great. I've used them for a couple images already.
