Subject: Assigning different shaders to a vertex object

Hey, Does anybody know how I can assign different shaders to a vertex object consisting of 3 different polymeshes? Parameteric mapping seems to recognize the different meshes but I can't figure out how to assign a different shader to each mesh.

If anybody wants to know how to assign different shaders to a vertex object consisting of more than 1 polymesh let me know.
