Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 06 4:35 pm)
You'd have to rename, you can copy a .pz2 to Camera as long as you change the extension to .cm2 as well. But some of them like Face and Hands will give you annoying warning dialogs that you have to dismiss, if you've put, say, a renamed .pz2 in there. So I think the answer is technically yes, but it would have so many annoying side effects you might not want to in practice. I've stuck to MAT/MORs in Camera to ease the crush in Pose, and am toying with moving Injection .pz2's into Face for similr reasons, but haven't done the latter across the board yet, 'cos of that annoying error message. (It's easy enough to ignore, but it also masks the error - some attributes are not appropriate to this figure - when it really is in error.)
Let's be blunt. You can do that. You won't be able to use it, but you can do it. Poser is hard coded to read poses from pose, figure from figure, prop from prop. It does parse files differently based on where they come from. Now, having P5, you do have the option of creating several runtimes. I generally grouped mine into "departments" like a stage set up (wardrobe, actors, makeup, set design, etc). But you can easily group yours into "V3", "M3", "Alexa" "laRoo", "Koshini", etc. within each of my runtimes, I've organized my libraries according figure, then within the figure subfolders I have different folders as well (MAT poses are in one folder, and it has folders sorted by clothing, for example). It means work, of course, and effort everytime you install a lot of stuff (I'm lazy and tend to do my installs in batches of 25 to 50 items at once, lol). But the effort is upfront, and when you go into create an image, it's all there.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
I'll have to organize my runtime into runtimes. I may be mistaken, but I think I read somewhere that the runtime loads faster if smaller, but also the individual figure loads quicker as well. It does seem like a lot of work, but when the runtimes gets so big that you're scrolling all the time, its not much fun..plus real hard to find what you're looking for. thanks

I have Poser 5. All products install themselves by one method or another into specific directories within the Runtime directory. Is it possible, to, as example, take a product that has a figure, MAT files, maybe some props and install ALL of the stuff into one directory within the runtime? so basically, you would not have the mat files in Pose but in Figures..same for the props associated with the product... it would make finding all associations much easier than having things flung about all over, especailly if you have a big bloated runtime.
