This picture actually looks much better on my laptop than on a regular monitor. But anyway Could somebody please help Why is the shadow of the tiger guy on the ground jagged?

The only thing I know to do is to raise the shadow map size, but it is already at 1024.

The shadow of the dragon comes in much sharper and other than color, atmosphere and position they are set the same.

Try using raytraced shadows and see if it comes out cleaner. Looks like an antialiasing problem.

Tools :  3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender v2.74

System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB GPU.

do raytrace shadows work with volumetric lighting?

I haven't tested that yet, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. You can always change them back to shadow maps if not. Anyway, you can try also raising the pixel samples if you're using firefly for cleaner edges.. Expect a little longer rendertimes the higher the pixel sample though.

What is the shading rate set to? Values > 1 can result in jagged shadows. Your map size should be more than sufficient, I think you could even go down to 512 safely.

checking "smooth polygons" seems to have cleared it up :) thanx for your help :D
