i was told, it's great for animations, Mason, but it works more effectively with less poligons than poser does. although it does not import any work from poser (afaik only dxf files) poser work yould just crash tho whole programm, because the files are way to big. depending on what you are trying to do, there are many great tutorials out there on creating a photorealistiy human character with AM, and the rendering engine is absolutely great. Sad to say there is no trial version :-) I'm considering purchase of AM but i still want to try the prog first, and i did not yet have the chance to tell me if you know more -Ede

I have AM 99 and AM 00... When you get into AM you may as well throw everything else away... it dosent play well with other programs, it's very self contained... I've used it to make some props and so on, but not as my main render engine or modeler. Not that it's not a great piece of software... there just isnt a lot of import options. (Supposedly the latest patch lets you bring in 3ds files, but it just crashes on me.) Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

I just bought Animation Master after seeing a demo at SIGGRAPH. I'm still doing the tutorials from the manual. It isn't as easy to use as Poser but it renders better. The CD has both Windows and Macintosh versions on it. One "problem" with the program is the fact that you must have the program CD in your drive when you first start the program. After that you can remove the CD.

I am new to Poser and AM 2000. AM 2000 looks good for animation. It is limited for import/export but work well by itself. Look at the user links where many users show their work and it will give you an idea. Claude

I have it, it's a bitch to learn but from the looks of it, worth it. The clothing really moves like clothing and the models can be exported as objects and pulled into Poser, there are two artists that I know of that use it for Poser. I am just a baby with this program, but seeing the potential in it, I have decided to give it my best shot. Not that expensive when you see what it can do. I've seen a few commercials that have Hash stuff in them, the snake in the Medusa rolloercoaster commercial was done in Hash. I am also playing with Truespace and Carrara. But Hash looks pretty good. You can import Poser into it, but it is best not to take in the whole model. Marque

Yes AM 2000 is a bear to learn but If you want to impress people with chacter animation AM 2000 is the program to learn. There is none better for the price. Loki de Monster

Debra Ross is one person who does all her models in Animation Master. I have the program and you CAN import obj files. I also have Cinema 4D XL which I will probably end up using more than AM, but it is really expensive compared to AM. I have seen some things I know were done in AM in commercials. It's a great program, and it's reasonably priced, also they continually update it. Marque

Related question: First, let me point out that I'm a total newbie to poser (shareware version only thus far). I'm considering buying poser but after some research (and checking out these forums) I'm a little confused as to whether Hash's A:M might be a better choice for me. HERE'S WHAT I WANT TO DO: Short narrative animations with dialogue using realistic figures, simple props and basic scenery. I thought poser was the way to go (maybe combined with Mimic), but several posts say that A:M is a great all-in-one animation package -- especially for beginners. I'm not really interested in modelling or creating my own creatures. I just want to tell a story with humanoid figures. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
