Subject: Forums speedup idea

I want to get some feedback for an idea I had to speed up the forums. How about deleting old posts that are X days old? There are currently 130,000 messages in the database, dating back to 2/22/1999. Maybe move the old posts to an archive and make that available through a different forum link? Thoughts?

That sounds like a great idea, maybe divide the posts into chunks-like all posts from 1999, 2000, 2001, etc I know there is still alot of pertinent info in alot of those posts. Ken

Indeed there is much good info from back then, even. New users might still want to access stuff from back then.
