Subject: Haunted by a background photo

shorterbus ( ) posted Fri, 02 April 2004 at 1:10 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 2:15 PM

Did a render with an improted background photo and now every time I try to render or enter material room Poser 5-4.321 looks (tirelessly) for that background picture. I've told it to stop searching and then saved as preferred launch state - no luck. Also, each time I start Poser it says my requested window too large, adjusting to next best thing. Also (deep breath) downloaded ISOP's french maid dress and each time I try to apply mat files the program freezes. Anyone got any clues. Thanks in advance.

Do not set a preferred state. Set it to use Factory state, restart and THEN set your preferred state again. The "Window too large, creating the next best thing" is apprently a random error, at least I've had it happen from time to time in Poser 5, but no consistency. And Poser works fine after it has belched that error.

ernyoka1, thanks very much. BTW, figured out the ISOP problem.

ernyoka1, the "Window too large" error is not a random error, as far as I can tell. It does happen when Poser crashes after you have used a background image larger than your current resolution, or have opened a .pz3 that was made by someone using a larger resolution than yours. Poser does save settings depending on your monitor resolution. The xml-files are somewhere in Runtime>prefs>ui if I remember correctly. Don't have Poser on this machine, so I can't check. As far as I can tell, it happens only when Poser crashes.

Use poser with a higher screen resolution if it is set at 600 x 800 change it to 1024 x 768 you shouldn't have any probs then.

Not always, msg.. I had it happen to me just the other day. I almostnever use background images, and this was just when I opened a new, BLANK document when it popped up and told me it was too large... You're right that the reasons you mentioned are USUALLY the cause. Just not allways L Poser IS weird!

Mine is always telling me that my preferred state window is too large so I click ok and when it opens the window is there at the size I wanted. Go figure. 8P Catlin
