Hi all, I've done a bit more research since my last feeble attempt at this. Still not perfect, but getting there :) The morphing of Natalia's head was done in zBrush. Most of the texturing work was done in Potatoshop Elements. I put a Natalia texture in the background layer, created a new layer and put the Jeff texture for Mike in the new layer. I then lowered the transparency in the Jeff Layer, lined up the faces and used the transform tool to distort the Jeff layer until he matched the underlying Natalia layer. At this point, I merged the two layers then created a new transparent, blank layer. In the blank layer I used the clone stamp tool to clone Jeff's skin further and further away from the eyes, nose and mouth. I could have taken a bit more time and patience to do it properly, instead impatience got a hold and the result is a bit sloppy. Phew ! Hope this helps someone :) regards, Andrew

Potatoshop? Interesting! :-) Well this looks much better. And the texture helps to give the male impression very much... I would try to make brows more heavy... Maybee you could give us a front image too...

Hairline should be further back at temples (lest he look like a chimp!) What hair are you using, BTW? Eyebrows not painted out so far. Heavier brow bones and a bit more hair on their inner areas (nose to center of eye) Bottom of earlobe looks odd, maybe not so far out from the head? Bring the lower lip in a bit more (it looks 3 times the size of the upperlip). I'd give him a bit more cheek bone, but I like cheek bones. All-in-all, an interesting face! Carolly

Thanks for your kind and honest comments. The hair is UD Short Curls Hair available at DAZ.

If you want I can make a male face texture for her/him :-) It would be fun!

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 02 April 2004 at 4:00 AM

Yeah, that would be cool :) Maybe we can tag-team on this, and provide a freestuff character, what do you think ?

narcissus ( ) posted Fri, 02 April 2004 at 6:32 AM

Why not? I'll sent you a message when I finish the texture!

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 02 April 2004 at 8:04 AM

OK, and I will work a bit more on the male morph for Natalia. In particular, I'll take some of your comments and hauksdottir's comments on board. I've never posted anything up in the freestuff before, or in the marketplace for that matter, so I don't know what I should do. Can you tell me where I should sent the file (i.e. the morph target) when I've completed it.

After you have completed the morph target, you will need to save it off so that the character can be legally distributed. It is possible that Dacort would be interested in hosting it or helping set it up. There are also people on this forum who can help with proper packaging. First and hardest is getting the mesh and the texture to work together to create someone distinctive. You will need to test your creation with the various phoneme morphs and others, so that the teeth don't go through the jaw if he smiles or talks, and the lids will cover the eyes when he blinks... stuff like that. Thanks, Carolly, That's all good advice. I've approached Dan at Dacort to get some feedback from him. regards, Andrew

I'm sorry if this post shows up twice... Anyway, I already wrote to Andrew, but I'll repost part of the message here: As far as distribution, I don't mind at all so long as the .obj files for Natalia are not included. You can distribute a modified .cr2 if you want. I would actually prefer this to individual morph targets. A morph INJ script is probably okay but it might be easier to just use the .cr2 (unlike DAZ I have no restrictions on this). So long as the textures are your own work (or your partner's) there is no problem there, either. These are the same general guidelines I use for all my products. I've included a link to my downloads policy page. I originally put these guidelines together for free items, but they will do just as well for purchased items.
