There is no readme with this, I take it it is a demo of a program. Anyone care to enlighten an old woman? I don't install stuff just cause it's free.....lol Marque

Well if the owner wants to sell it for $50 he/she needs to get their act together and explain what it is and make sure the demo works before I lay down my money. =) Marque

Just tried it, it locked up but when I hit the esc key it let me out. Won't go past the splash screen. Too bad, looked like it could be a cool idea. Marque

Thanks for the warning, folks. You just saved me the trouble of hassling with it. It does look interesting however.

Xurge ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 5:32 PM

I played with it, it did not crash my PC. It allows you to make morphs using a picture as a template. If it worked good, it might be of use to those who wish to do celebrities and recognizable peple.

hoborg ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 7:06 PM

I got it to work. It's a little confusing. Nothing a little updating wouldn't fix, though. Does anyone know where I can get the program that makes an OBJ out of multiple camera views of something? Hoborg

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 8:44 PM

Weird, it will not work on my system. What OS are you using?

hoborg ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 10:11 PM

NT 4. The GUI has a little to be desired. hoborg

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 10:59 PM

Are you using the demo or did you buy it?

Lindy55 ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 11:25 PM

I got up and running but I have not tried to import or export anything from it. I'm with you Hogorg I'm looking for something that will make and obj from a photo outline.

hoborg ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 11:35 PM

I saw some at Download.com

Hdrider ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 11:46 PM

Hello, Here's a site with a program you all might be interested in. There is a demo. It's interesting but kind of complicated. Well, anyways, check it out. http://www.geometra-3d.com/geometra.htm hdrider

Lindy55 ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2000 at 12:50 AM

HDRider thanks. That Geometra looks like something I can use. Have you done anything with it? Outside of being somewhat complicated, what has been your experience?

teihop ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2000 at 9:58 AM

I tried the Still to Real but it didn't work. I think it's for mapping a photograph onto an OBJ. Good if it works maybe. The Geometra looks great but you need the full version to output the 3D object created from the fots. Thanks HDRider and Bradvs.

Hdrider ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2000 at 10:51 AM

Hello, I messed with the Geometra program a little. Seems the demo I have will output the 3D object. Have to check though. I haven't used it for awhile. The only drawback to it is you almost have to have three different views of an image for it to work right. I heard they were going to modify it so you only needed one, like Canoma, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. Later, hdrider

please anybody, somebody provide a link to the site of the still too real

hoborg ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2000 at 2:53 PM

Yeah, I don't think that Geometra is going to work for me. It's a lot like trying to use formZ to make Metaballs. I'm trying to make some friends in 3d and I don't think that will cut it. Hoborg

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2000 at 8:36 PM

dunga there is a demo of it in the freestuff section and there is a full version for $50 in the renderosity store. I can't believe the author of the program has never acknowledged that some of us are having problems with the demo. =( Marque

Lindy55 ( ) posted Thu, 28 September 2000 at 11:34 PM

Heh reddog, what is Photo Modeler?

jflmkr ( ) posted Fri, 29 September 2000 at 1:24 PM

Photomodeler is a photogammerty program which converts 2d stills from various angles into a 3d model, kind of like canoma. I've tried the photomodeler demo on CD and geometra and not happy with either one---not for those kinds of bucks to pay. I could never get Geometra to work right. Photomodeler now has curves which could make faces easier but you need a lot of patience and 800. dollars. In my opinion morphs work better and faster.
