Subject: Daz forum now has Koshini's World....oh but ya gotta be PClub'd to post

MachineClaw ( ) posted Thu, 08 April 2004 at 10:27 PM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 9:01 PM

If ya didn't know, Daz has a forum for Koshini, kiki, and krystal where you can get information about development and futher the world of Koshini. it's a great idea for some great models. Lady Little fox has created some great models and items. Unfortunatly Daz has yet again made it so only PClub'd people can post or read this forum, even if they bought the items and may have something to say or input about the models they have bought. PClub'd, that's my new term for Daz, as in I've been P Club'd to death. Membership has it's privilages come get PClub'd. now before someone comes along saying oh your just bashing them, you hate them blah blah. I don't really. I purchase items from Daz and get told in newsletters that things will happen, and then they don't. Or they get done way late and there is no notice they just slide it in. Then they create forums for a model I bought and think it's a good idea but I'm not allowed to read or post to it. I have read the Daz company warm hugs around the poser community letter and I'm rather confused by the uninclusive approach that is showing up after that letter. so confused and bewildered

Oh, no, you see: it's inclusive as long as you're willing to pay for it. See?

Yeah well I should really learn to think before posting. I think it's a nice thing that Daz added a forum for koshini and Little Fox's models for her as well as the people that enjoy her models.

FlyByNight ( ) posted Fri, 09 April 2004 at 12:21 AM

Well, Lady Littlefox has a Yahoo group called KoshiniAlert that lets us know when new things are happening for Koshini and the rest of the characters and anyone can join as far as I know. Other members also let us in on new products coming out for them, too, along with sneak peeks now and then. It is a little unfair to have a Koshini forum for PC members only since only one product of Koshini was actually in the PC last time I looked.

MC yeah i does occasionally seem that you have it in for the PC or for PC members. Anything that PC mmebers are given exclusively seem to be something you want (except the bill). Face it - DAZ have to give PC members some pivelages - gawd only knows they take 'em away readily enough, gotta have something to fill the void and try and persuade us it's worthwhile. Oh - the link will only work for PC members, to see what we're losing next...

and I'm in the camp that says - 'whats koshini good for?, just making cutesy renders that are useless' I'm more worried about realism not cartoon cutesy...

'whats koshini good for?, just making cutesy renders that are useless' Like a good 75% of the images in the Poser gallery ARE useful? I like Vicki in a temple with a sword as much as the next guy, but I'm much more interested in seeing her do something in the temple or swing that sword these days than just model a popular merchant's wares. Koshini is a very nice model that has a unique look and can indeed be used to make more than just cutesy images. If you're going to blame anyone or anything, blame the artists who just drop her (or Vicki) in a scene and render. SnowS

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

gimme the following instead: male clothes. (the females have a MASSIVE choice, but the males? ha!) more figures than just mike or vicky. (sorry morph's just don't cut it since you can still tell they are mike and vicky) support for other figures than mike and vicky. (there are a few great figures out there, but nothing is done for 'em!) ... I could go on...but it's no use. no one's listening!

'whats koshini good for?, just making cutesy renders that are useless' actually koshini is good for making pictures for children,a friend of mine has a daughter that loves her and the images i make for her,not all art is made for adults, she also makes great greeting card characters too,and fairies :D not everyone likes realism in their images.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Fri, 09 April 2004 at 11:16 AM

Generally I'm not into cute, but more and more friends of mine are having kids and making cards or art for them and their kids for me at least is fun, and heart warming. It's not a regualr thing, but it's been happening more and more. I like anime and story telling, Ichiro has been a good model to work with for that just wish there was more for that model. Kiki now has some more male looking morphs and packs which is nice. But not being able to ask where I bought the model miffed me, I did not know about Little Fox's Yahoo group til the post above now I've signed up. The realism which I try and do mostly has been exceedingly frustrating for me lately, toon or cute is pretty straight forward and less frustrating. Not a biggy, we all do waht we do, just watching the Daz machine, as well as posr community in general go through it's .....paces again.

Koshini and her ilk are probably good at making money for vendors. Myself, I cringe every time a new cutsie character comes out...oh boy, now comes the flood of clothes, poses, textures, etc. for it. Many resources get used up for these characters that would be better invested in other things. Of course, this is just my opinion. Obviously others feel differently, as there appears to be a pretty good market for this stuff. NOTE: I *do* like Neftoon Gal though. She's just such a hottie! Please see the link if stressed about "cute."

"Cute" ? Who needs "cute" if we still can have naked women in temples with blades ? (beware, this image could hurt your sensibility) Next step should be "naked Koshini in a temple with chopsticks" i guess ? Additional note : this is supposed to be humoristic.

The thing I find useful about Koshini, Krystal, and Kiki are their ability to make using Poser fun. And, I don't have to worry much about new costumes being created for them, as I know Littlefox will support them, unlike the creators of some other major characters. However, I don't see why people feel it necessary to complain about characters that are supported by their creators. It seems the thing to do would be complain to the creator of the figure you want support for. :) Beth

Because us grumps live to gripe about cute critters. It used to be Smurfs when I was a kid. How I used to torment those little blue guys... ;-) Wish I could give MachineClaw my pass to the KKK forum. I'm certainly never going to use it.

I mostly do bad-ass, world-weary character portraits for various RPG games. I kinda like being able to turn to Koshini et al for nothing more than a little fun.

I hope Koshini World entails some of the same idea as GIRL World, with a virtual mesh world being created for them.

I'm attaching an image I'm working on. VPreteen and SP were being too human no matter what I did to them. Krystal worked marvelously. She's a D&D halfling cleric/sorceror.

"Wish I could give MachineClaw my pass to the KKK forum. I'm certainly never going to use it." errr I'll take that as reference to the PClub forum, least I hope that's whatcha ment eyes wide open Daz moved The GIRL forum and the Koshini forum today and merged them into a general access forum called Product Suggestions that everybody can access, and for a lot of different models ideas etc. WOW Daz listened to people, imagine that.
