I am currently working on a independent science fiction film which envolves many poser beings speaking. I am currenly working on a macintosh so I cannot use mimic so I was wondering if there was anybody out there who might be interested in helping me by having me send the sound file to them and then they would make a pose file with the lip sinc for text and then send the pose file back to me? this would be appreciated greatly. if you are interested you can also contact me at madere@connix.com thank you

Just buy a PC ... they're superior in almost every way when compared to Macs. I do everything on a PC my competition does on a Mac, FASTER and for A LOT less! Oh, and then there is the countless numbers of software titles that are NOT made for the Mac ... like MIMIC example. There are even a lot of net applications that aren't made for the Mac, like Dialpad (free long distance.) Sorry, didn't mean to preach, but I get tired of seeing people with Macs complaining or begging because something isn't made for the Mac, and they aren't smart enough to realize a long time ago that they need to buy a real computer.

Sorry Timoteo, but i dont agree with u... Im the happy owner of 3 pentium III pcs, i love pc.... but i have to admit it... for desing, theres nothing like a G4... Pc are cheaper, easier to load with software and many of us use them... but i have to admit it, Macs r superior.

Helly: Obviously everyone is going to have a strong opinion on this ... but the simple fact remains there just isn't a market for Macs like there is for PCs. Therefore there is a huge lack of software (and even web content) for the Mac. I can't tell you how many times I come accross something really cool for my PC (like Mimic for example) and go "Thank God I wasn't dumb enough to blow my money on a Mac!" I check my web site statistics regularly and not so amazingly enough, Macs make up less than 1% of the hits to all of my web sites. Also, Macs are slower per $$$ ... BIG TIME!! Finally, I have gone around with my friend who installs cable modems for a living and every Mac machine I came across takes forever and a year to boot ... what's the deal with that?? -Tim

Sorry, one more thing ... I don't see how they are superior. I will admit they have a unique and captivating look to them (on screen I mean). However, PCs are much more intuitive and effecient ... THREE WORDS: RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON !!! The fact that Macs are just now getting right mouse buttons (I think) shows you how bass-ackwards they are. There are soooo many more examples of how things are just plain EASIER on a PC it's incredible. And like the old kiddie saying goes, "Anything you can do I can do better!" And cheaper I might add. Which translates into lower fees for my clients, which naturally they like a whole lot, and couldn't tell or care less if it was done on a Mac. I use After Effects, Poser (obviously), 3DS MAX, Lightwave, Premeire, etc. with the same net results as someone using an overpriced and slower Mac. Well, I've preached enough. -Tim

Man i just couldnt resist this one Macs are easier to use because they have a neat little part of the os called the Finder. And the keyboard shortcuts on the mac ,they are more well laid out ergonomically, which is something critical for a designer since carpal tunel can cut your career short or make it more painful i Know i have it i used a mac for 4 years so im pretty familiar with the os and for years i preached about the good of the mac as opposed the wintel evil clones, but i have to admit Mac users you guys are on a desert island when it comes to good 3-D Software there is alot of low end or entry level software such as strata or raydream which take forever to render 1 frame, ive used them so i can speak from experience. and for years i preached and praised the Mac Bible. that is until i switched jobs and started using Max and then i bought a PC and my eyes were opened. i can render faster (much faster) on a pc with 3d studio max up to 4X faster with my p111 600 mhz than a decked out G-4 running strata at a fraction of the bloated prices apple charges for their hardware. i just completed 7 animated sequences for a proposal totaling 5 seconds per sequence. of a virtual spokesperson thats 35 seconds of lip synched animation fully textured and animated and rendered at 720 X486 RGBA targas with alpha enabled channels in under 5 days using mimic/lipsynch and a neat tool from Conan the Barbarian called maximum pose for importing into max as a maxscript. no way would i have finished i would have probably not even taken the job if i were on a mac. that is just the truth. wish i could be more supportive of a good os which apple has done a good job of keeping alive all these years,but the sad truth is most people using macintosh mashines are people who are graphic artists geared for print material at least that has been my experience in the corporate world. my suggestion would be to switch to a wintel machine and start enjoying all the neat stuff available only for NT or 2000

I own all PC's. When I went in to buy my first computer the Apple salesman was such a snobby jerk I walked out. I am soooo glad! I started with an 8088 and went on from there. I can do anything on my PC's that most peeps can do on the Mac and more. Reason? More people can write programs on the PC, they don't own Mac's so they don't write the software. You will always find more stuffage for PC's. I don't have anything against Mac's or Mac users. I just know that if I want something I can usually get it fairly cheap, and I can usually find a few different versions of whatever it is I'm looking for. Not only does my friend complain about her Mac, which is brand new and supposed to be a killer machine, but she has to pay extra to even get people to work on it for her. At any rate, without different OS's to complain about the world would be pretty boring. ;-) Now, about those @#$@%@#$ Linux people!! lol Marque
