This is the engine I wanted to put into my p26, but it would not shrink in poly's enough without suffering degradation, so I had to make the cylinders smooth and delet alot of the nuts and bolts.

And here is the plane with the low poly engine installed. I still need to make the little streamlined boots that cover the ends of the rigging, props, and control surfaces. It has not been uv mapped yet, these are just preliminary Bryce textures.

Great modelling! You might wanna checkout a guy who does similar stuff. 'Frank Chase Designs'. I can't recall his site ad, but I guess you can look around a bit.......

I'm surrounded by engine modellers lately..;) there's a guy in Carrara, Tallpindo, that's doing something very similar at the moment..maybe y'all could trade notes..;) great work, keep it up..

Hehehe... Tallpindo... That guy's known for leaving cryptic, vague, and yet somewhat interesting comments (because one's trying to figure out what he's saying.) But he does appear to have an interesting range of knowledge. Also see if you can get in touch with BigKahuna (if I recall right - also I believe that this is Frank Chase's name here at Renderosity), because he's done some supurb mechanical modeling of engines. The neat thing about his work is that he actually accomplished it by using all Bryce booleans. Also agree a bit with ddruckenmiller on the engine. Odds are that one's going to even see less of it with the prop on there.

Dang! She's a beauty! It really is almost a shame to hide that great-looking engine underneath the cowling. That's a excellent plane too.

Nice modeling work! My step-dad was rather fond of on old "racing plane" from way back, had a rather over-sized looking fuselage with the cockpit situated at the rear of the plane by the rudder. I'd heard it only raced once or twice then crashed but can't for the life of me recall it's name. Anyway, your image brought that memory back for me. :)
