Subject: Poser 5 copying P4 runtime removes wavefront export option

OK, so I copied my ole Poser 4 runtime folder into my (fairly) new Poser 5 folder, on top of the existing P5 runtime. Now I don't have the option to export a a wavefront object - it's not greyed out, it's just not there. Any ideas?

hmmm. the only thing that comes immediately to mind is that you may have overwritten poser system files? btw, since you can link runtimes in p5, you could have linked to the p4 folder rather than copying it over.

You'll probably have to reinstall poser5 now, I'm actually surprised it's still working at all. Copying the Poser4 runtime or installing anything to the Poser5 runtime is a very bad idea as it can cause Poser5 to become more flaky than normal (not that P5-SR4.1 is flaky)

Ah well, you live 'n learn. Now all I have to do is dig through the mountain on my desk to find the discs... Maybe now would be a good time to read further than the first couple of chapters in the manual! Any hints as to which chapter I'll find the bit about linking runtimes in?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has to dig through a mountain to find anything on the desk :) The button doesn't show up unless you hit the up arrow at the top of the palette till you see 2 folders (Poser5 & Downloads) easily missed unless you know it's there ;) Now I'm off to hunt down my discs & manual cause I have to reinstall it myself :)

Damn... that may explain why Poser 5 is actin so buggered... I did that on my new comp... (Cuz I didn't bother installing Poser 4 on the new one.) Worked fine for a while but now it's just goin crazy... ah well when I am done with this set of animations I'll just have to reinstall Poser 5 and properly install everything

Update - reinstalling Poser 5 fixed everything, and still kept the additional items in the runtime. Only took a few minutes - much less stressful than I'd imagined. Thanks again for the help!
