THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Randomize Question

Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me how to get Bryce5's randomize feature to work? I follow what the manual says, but it doesn't seem to do what it should. I can choose which randomize type I want, but when I click and drag on the amount button it just moves the object around and resizes it. How do I get it to actually let me set the amount and then create those objects? Thanks for any help you can give me. Josh

It works with multiple objects best. So either select a load of objects. Or what I do is mutlireplicate a number of times and then try it.

Thanks drawbridgep. I think I was misunderstanding what the randomize feature did. From using other programs I assumed that it would create x number of duplicates of an object scattered randomly. This would be great for scattering trees or other foliage across a landscape. Is there a feature like this in Bryce, where you can select a single object and create a number of duplicates scattered randomly? I know the multireplicate can do something similar to this, but it isn't really a random scattering. Or maybe there is a way to make multireplicate act in a more random way? Any help would be appreciated. Josh

Pretty sure it's the only way. Make a tree, multireplicate it a lot of times. Select them all and then randmoize 2d disperse and that will move them around in 2d plane. But obviously each tree will be a clone. There may be a way to randomize it a bit better. But not that I know of.

Short of creating each tree individually using one of the .bto files (or making a tree and saving it as a .bto) then selecting them all and using 2d disperse, what drawbridgep described is the only other way.

Thanks for the help. I think I can get the results I want if I combine multireplicate with randomize. Thanks again. Josh
