Subject: Still need help / Re: Native American

Hi all, Quite a few weeks ago I posted about needing pix of Native American women for two RPG characters I want to create w/ V3. I'm still searching and I haven't found many pix to use for reference. And everytime I approach a morph it looks the same. I reference pic would really help. On top of that I can't find the perfect texture for this project. Some skin tones are too light or too dark and it's driving me nuts. I have one that I'm using but I'm not sure if it's suitable or not, I'm not 100% satisfied w/ it for the character. A quick summary of the RPG characters. A mother (in her 40's) and a daughter (in her 20's) who are Cherokee. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? Thanks! Frustrated, ~RnRWoman~

After some (actually a LOT of Googling I found a few. Most of them seems to be very "romantic" pictures and since I don't know what a REAL cherokee is supposed to look like I don't know if I got close to anything authentic. But there's one pic here and here some more.. but I guess you've allready seen those?

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Thanks or your reply! :) Yeah, I still need to search some more, but I have searched the images at Google and Altavista I think. Still not much luck with finding any. :( I've tried multiple keywords, still not much luck. Any suggestions? Thanks for helping me look! I hope we're able to find some pix and a suitable texture for them! Have a great day and God Bless! ~RnRWoman~

Watch Dances with Wolves (and if you can do screen captures use one as reference) Morris and Stacey did a skin "Kimmela for V3" that is very nice, I don't know if there'a a "no makeup" option (haven't used it in a while I mostly do men eg) or Try using 2 skins playing with blending options. Pick one African American and one with a ruddy tone to it.

I don't have that movie, but I suppose I could look for screen captures of it on the internet or look up the Native American actresses in it. Thanks for sharing your idea! Yeah, I have that texture. I like it, but I'm wondering if it's suitable for what I have in mind. Blending options sounds like a good idea. I'll have to piddle around with that more. Please keep the ideas coming! Hope everyone had a Blessed Resurrection Day / Easter!!!! God Bless!!!!!!! :) ~RnRWoman~

Our own Nancy=Sophie Deer has a wonderful Native American site, with many links. Just go to her home page for the link.

The characters in Dances With Wolves, (as well as the majority of actors in the film) are Sioux, so if you're looking for Cherokee skin tones, I don't know that stills from DWW will help much, but good luck in your search.

RnR, try a search for Edward Curtis if you need photo reference. He was probably the pre-eminant documentary photographer of Native Americans of the late 1800's. Good Luck! -jay

You could also try going to http://www.cherokee.org/. It's the official web presence of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Those of us out here who live in Tahlequah, the physical location of the tribal headquarters, have the same problem with skin tones...Cherokee skin tones can run from almost Yonega (white) to the color of deep red clay mud. There are many photographs on the site that you should be able to download and use a color picker to get a broad-based skin tone.
