At first I thought it was some fiendishly subversive plot by the poser community - but apparently I was mistaken... And even if it's only for a moment - 'My first spaceship' is in the HOT 20! Thanks all around to everyone who helped in comments (complimentary or less than), offline, or even by not commenting, right down to simply being surrounded by such a diverse bunch of talent - all of which helped inspire me to want to do better. Thank you.

She didn't bat an eyelash... why should she? A) It was water soluble. B) She was accustomed to me getting my dinner 'at the drive-through' C) It wasn't nearly as dangerous as when I was playing with railroad flares and the lawnmower gasoline trying to build a rocket engine (those were the space race years) D) It wasn't nearly the 'situation' as when I swapped out for balloon tires to go mud-bogging in the neighboring farm's septic overflow/hog runoff, got stuck, and our German Shepard waded in shoulder deep to drag me out. I still hear about that cleanup every couple of months...
