Does render to disk take less time than rendering to the screen?

People say it does, but I like the ability to stop and save your progress that you have with the normal render. Too many power outages around here.

I often use the render to disk to speed things up, if I get a power out then I load the image and plop render the rest.

Or you could just set up another computer and use it only for rendering on normal. 8)

Does render to disk take less time? Really, only if you have a slow PC with a slow video card. Your video card has to update the ongoing rendering, this can tax your system if you have a slow PC/Video card. BUT, nowadays systems are good enough, you probably will not notice any difference at all between the two rendering options. (I used to run Bryce on a Pentium 200mhz, with 32Mb ram and a 1mb video card) So, yes, in that case I did notice a difference.... AgentSmith

I suppose that means it wouldn't make any difference for me 'cos my vid card has 256mb on board ram. 8)
