Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

Hi,

Im surprised by the amount of interest in my first 'Comic Girl' post. I deleted the first post as I didnt want to offend anyone by not placing the nudity flag; I took my first posts down and decided to work on her some more. As some people have asked to see her Ill repost the originals. I have completed more work on her and Ill post it when Im happier with results.

I would like to point out that I when I first posted the character I never planned to release the character. The Poser Community seemed to take great interest in Kim Goossens G.I.R.L character and I simply wanted to illustrate an example of how custom morphs could be applied to make a comic type character with existing Millennium Girls DAZ products. As people seemed to be interested in the Comic Style of GIRL it was simple a demonstration of how one might achieve similar results to Kims character.

'Fashionably Late' also commented that the body is similar to the Blackhearteds Nia. The Chest, Buttock and Waist Morphs were built on top of the Blackhearteds Nia character hence the similarity.

As I mentioned, the character was never intended for public release, but a few posters indicated interest in a public release. I think before even considering such a release a few thing would need be addressed.

a) Would the community want another Comic/Toon style character. Already there exists Maya Doll, Koshini and the upcoming G.I.R.L.?

b) Would Blackhearted be willing collaborate, license or add the character as a NIA expansion? (some of my characters morphs were modeled upon NIA's. While it would be easy enough for me to model the parts from scratch, having someone like Gabriel involved would be invaluable. As Ive never released anything to the MP I dont have the faintest idea how to properly release a product.

c) There are a number of unique Morphs Im working on including comic like feet with far more shape and definition and the ability to point like a ballerina. Also, I am trying to create some morphs to solve the bad joint problem inherent to Millennium Girls. This would include fixes to the knees, shoulders and elbows although Im not altogether certain this can be achieved.

d) As the characters body is radically changed from the base Millenium Girls clothing would have to be built upon release. I would want to release her with AT LEAST lingerie set, pump sandals shoes and a casual set of clothes (shorts, t-shirt). Also, Id like to have 2-3 toon style hair props for her.

A few posters have commented the release might be in politically in 'bad taste' with the upcoming release. As a 2D artist there are certain conventions for illustrating comic/toon characters; heart shaped faces; a wide nasal and brow ridge outlining a button sized nose; large almond eyes distanced far apart from each other; sultry lips; large feet and hands; an extremely thin waist with curvaceous hips and buttock; and of course large round breasts - these are the typical 2D style conventions. While one can certainly argue that there are similarities between Comic Girl and G.I.R.L. Id like to point out that my inspiration for Comic Girl was J.Scott.Campbell's 'Danger Girl' I am an enormous fan of his illustrations and often draw from his styles in both my 2D and 3D work. I dont mean to take away anything from Kim's truly spectacular character, but 'convention is convention' and there is seldom something out there that has not been done before.

I have included the images from my first pose as well as an image of Comic Girl, Danger Girl and G.I.R.L set side-by-side to illustrate the similarities in three.

Anyway, once again I apologize for posting without the nudity flag and comments are more than welcome.

The eyebrows are too straight they need that little part that bends down towards the outside. I hope I explained that clearly enough.

How did you make that comic type middle panel? Love esther

Esther .. it is a traditional comic called Danger Girl

Gareee ( ) posted Wed, 21 April 2004 at 9:41 PM

I like her, but I think much will depend on the amount of work involved on your part, and the price you'd sell her for, especially if the base figure, AND someone else's work was required as well. Somone would have to then have $30-$40 alrwady invested in the base figure, and add at least another $15 for your work, and that's going to be a hard sell. I'd go even more out, to try to get J Scott Cambell's female image down, and that would also make her more different from Girl. Maybe you could work off the freebie Sara base? That would give you a built in market already, and I feel poor sara will be left out in the cold, once Girl hits. BTW getting one of the danger girl action figures from Mcfarlane will help alot in making the needed body and face morphs.

xantor ( ) posted Wed, 21 April 2004 at 9:48 PM

The problem with ALL new figures is the clothes and hair, they dont usually have any. The maker of a new figure, if it is completely new, should at least make some clothes and hair for it also to help sell the figure too, the clothes and hair wouldnt have to be free, as long as they are available.

Yep. figures are just worthless to me if they have no addon things available. I downloaded free Sara, installed her, and looked at her twice maybe.

She's really cute, and I like the fact that she's based off of the mil girl mesh. I think she's enough different from the rest to be a great addition to the ever-growing list of girl characters.

Fashionably_Late ( ) posted Wed, 21 April 2004 at 10:48 PM

I'm glad you reposted the images, I personally think there's room for your character in the Poser community even alongisde G.I.R.L. I know one thing that I find useful about the MilGirl mesh is that it loads fast, and can take any V1/2 textures, so those facts might work in your favor.

I realize the character wasn't intended as a commercial project, so I apologize if it sounded like I was suggesting you had stolen someone else's work for profit. Blackhearted's Nia is a great character, and I think you've complimented the morphs nicely. I hope the project works out for you, whether or not you decide to release her commercially. :)

I think she's outstanding! You've done an amazing job. Is the work done purely with magnets, or is there mesh work invloved. If it is all magnets I'd be very enthusiastic about helping all I can (I love magnets and use them daily. I consider myself to be an expert with them toots own horn LOL). I adore the Millenium Preteen, am about to release a whole bunch of stuff for her actually, and would love to help/make stuff/whatever I can if you do go forward with your Comic Girl :) I do agree with Xantor though. The eyebrows require a bit of finessing to get a good shape to them.

no need for apologies Omadar :) I'm glad you decided to repost the pics of your girl so everyone who missed her first time round can enjoy her. I think you'll find people will want her no matter how many other Toon girls there are ;)

FishNose ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2004 at 5:15 AM

Oh good grief! You mean she's based on PT?? Well well.... I'd certainly be interested. As to Nia: If your product is an extension of BH's, as in requiring the prior purchase of Nia, I'm quite sure he wouldn't mind :o) After all it would mean some serious new sales of Nia ands that's never a bad thing. Of course your product could not INCLUDE his morphs wiothout his consent/cooperation. I think she's very nice and since she is based on PT and therefore indirectly on Vicki, there is certanly a market for this - hair and props, even some clothes would work with tweaking. Keep it up. And for goodness' sake - why can't she show us her boobs? You even have a nudity flag up after all. :] Fish

PandaPride ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2004 at 5:25 AM

maybe she's shy! I wouldn't show my boobies to a group of strangers either! :OP

Omadar- I would be glad to send you a free set of Magic Mags for MGPT that you can use to develop this character's body. You could then package the head morph and a setting PZ2 for the magic mags. The cross promotion would be lovely, especially since MGPT mag pack comes with a few articles of clothing. Contact me if interested. -WTB

cedarwolf ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2004 at 12:32 PM

I'd love this figure. I don't have a budget for any new goodies at the moment, but I think she's a beauty and would be fun to work with.

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 23 April 2004 at 12:26 AM

Looks too close for me to drop money on it. They all kind of blend in together. Almost like everyone is doing the same tutorial. Make her different, then I would be interested. Marque

estherau ( ) posted Fri, 23 April 2004 at 2:26 AM

I haven't bought any of these types of figures, but if I did Marque, and say I was writing a web comic, I would like it that they were all similar, otherwise the comic would look funny. If you make a pic with 3 different characters, you don't want one looking completely photo real and the other looking like a comic person do you? Love esther

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 23 April 2004 at 8:12 AM

That's not what I meant. If I was doing a comic I would want them to look different, different features, different body builds, not photorealistic. They look like sisters. They all have the same pudgy little bodies and pudgy little faces with tiny noses. Not saying they aren't cute, just that they look alike in the meshes themselves. It would be tough to tell them apart if you just did the meshes. I noticed it a long time ago when neftis first did hers and showed it sided by side with the girl model. Marque

I'm sure you can find something like that in Florida. But it's just too damned hot there in summertime now! (Think 100+)

HOT - I'll take hot hot hot - tired of the midwest and winter temps of -50.

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 23 April 2004 at 4:03 PM

I said that as well.. a few days of 105+ 100 % humidity will make you change your mind.. people used to retire there.. now there are what they call halfbacks.. people who move there, find it too damned hot, and move "half back" to Sc and NC now. We're LOVING NC...

Hi there, Thanks a ton for all the feedback. I basically decided to remodel her from scratch - I didn't feel like bugging Blackhearted as he is probably busy with his own projects. I have completed the majority of major morphs and nearly finished the 'better feet' part of the package which will create better looking female feet with the new morphs that will better articulate the way feet point, arch and bend. Apart from that there are just some minor fixes and clean-up with Mesh. Here are the things planning for release: Character: Comic Girl with Comic like Head. Character: Comic Girl Body with Realistic Head. Clothing: Lingerie: Bra, Panties and Pump Sandals Clothing Casual: Shorts, T-Shirts, Boots. Hair: 2 hair props. Blunt short and Blunt Long Texture: Comic Girl Texture Poses: 4 Comic Like Poses I'm hoping that will be enough to satisfy people interested in purchasing her. Everything should be ready ina few weeks. I'll post some updates as I have them.
