I will post a few links to some performance tweaks for XP Pro. Reason? Hardly anyone knows about them and they are simple and often missed. Like... how much room did XP assign to your temporary internet files? Did you ever bother to check? On my system, on new install - it assigns a whopping 916mb. I-think-not. *raises eyebrows, and types in "15mb"* It's stuff like that. The link above has the first 10 linked. You should do those first. [Services List](http://users.accesscomm.ca/gbraun/wxp/services.htm) [XP TuneUp](http://www.xptuneup.com/) [Tons of Tips](http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm) Those are just a few. If you hunt around you will find a lot of this stuff. It is worth looking at what your OS is actually doing, expecially if you have the minimum spec for RAM and CPU and want things to run faster. If you want XP to run faster... I'm afraid there is only one way to do it: Gut the sucker. :) Feeding it memory doesn't help if that memory is eaten up by system processes you really don't need to have running. One word of warning though: BACKUP. Have a backup of the registry, don't TOUCH the registry if you don't know what you're doing, and preferably have some of this stuff done for you by someone who is computer savvy if you don't think you'll be able to do it. Most stuff is purely cosmetic, but some is a bit... involved. Rule of thumb: If you're not sure - then don't do it. But trust me on the Temporary Internet Files... Silke

Can you tell me how much the XP TuneUp is? I can't find a price on the site. Hate companies that don't just tell you how much the program is. I usually just move on when they do that, and they lose a customer. Marque

how much room did XP assign to your temporary internet files? Did you ever bother to check? For all Windows users using Internet Explorer: Set your IE options to automatically delete the temporary internet files when you close the browser- you don't need them- that's why they're "temporary". :) Anyway, go to Tools > Internet Options. Then, click on the Advanced Tab. Scroll down to the "Security" section. Check the box marked "Empty Temporary Internet Files flder when browser is closed." Also, make sure to empty your Recycle Bin on a regular basis- those to-be-deleted files can take up a lot of space. --John

I've just found that by disabling the DNS Client service Renderosity speeds up a lot :)

Thanks, Silke. The tips list is especially good; it solves several things I've found annoying. Hadn't seen those tips elsewhere.
