Subject: Question about software

kawecki ( ) posted Tue, 27 April 2004 at 3:11 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 5:22 PM

I am working on a new software product, it works well with resolution of 800x600, but with 640x480 the window is a little too big. The question is, I have to shrink it to fit 640x480 or forget 640x480 and make an exigence for the user to a minimum of 800x600 screen? Note) The layout is more comfortable and user friendly with 800x600.

Stupidity also evolves!

Just use 800 by 600. Few graphics peple use snmaller. They can resize themselves if it is a texture thingy.

800 is the smallest I can even go myself. I know it switches to 640 for some games but I cant set it to it myself. I dont think anyone works in 640.

few graphics people even work in 800...most use 1024...the average pc person not in graphics still uses 800 though.....I would say it needs tow work in both..

These days the minimum is 1024, 640 went out of fashion years ago with Win3.1 :)

I used to have a 640 x 480 VGA screen on my mail server (it was all it needed). However some software - Nero CD burner comes to mind - wouldn't fit. If you go for 800 x 600 minimum you won't be alone. ;)

I ran into this question the last time I revised my anatomy courseware. The publisher (Thomson) required 800 as default.
