Philadelphia Library Writers' Salon - Saturday, May 1, 2PM. Are you trying to elevate your prose or break into print? Be a part of the Philadelphia Free Library's first Writers' Salon. Listen to four influential Delaware Valley writers discuss aspects of their craft including: dialogue, story craft, revisions, poetry, playwriting, character development, and more. Get a chance to meet with the writers and ask questions, during and after the program. Participants include playwright Ed Shockley, childrens author and editor Kathye Fetsko Petrie, poet Marj Hahne, and author Christopher Klim. Shockley is the Sondheim Award-winning playwright of Bessie Smith Empress of the Blues and recent offerings within the city. Kathye Fetsko Petrie is the childrens author of Flying Jack and the senior editor of Local Lit Magazine. Marj Hahnes latest poetry collection can be heard on Notspeak. Christopher Klim is author of the novels, Jesus Lives in Trenton and Everything Burns, and a book on the writing craft, Write to Publish, as well as the editor of Writers Notes Magazine. Three days too soon :( I won't be back in the Phila area until Tuesday. I believe this is being held in the main branch of the Phila Library system, and it's not very far from the "Olde Town" section. Spend some time at the library, walk around Independence Mall, and then stop at Bookbinder's for dinner. Oh well. Maybe next year.
