I work for a planetarium and I'm trying to use carrara to do some effects for different shows. What I'm looking for are good tutorials on galaxies spinning that are not just images on flat planes rotating. I need to fly through these. Also animating the sun bursts, spots, prominence etc. Finally the rings of saturn for fly throughs and any other space related tuts. I know this alot to ask but I really could use the help. I've found several using lightwave but its hard to translate to carrara. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

alkart2003, I wish I knew of some tutorials like that for Carrara. I've needed similar things like that for presentations and videos that I do. In the end, I've just had to do trial and error to achieve the look I require in the time alloted. Now I don't claim to be the athuority on Carrara, but if you need some help and have some photographic refrences to send me I'll see what I can do. I wish I had more info to give. alkart2003, To get ideas for how to do such things you might have to look at tutorials in other programs if you can't find them in Carrara and try to convert the information. For example EricofSD has or had some tricks that he used in Bryce to simulate lense flares which might convert to Carrara I think he did something with rings there too. If no one here replies you could try the modeling forum and repost your question in a more general way in other likely forums like 3ds and truespace - maybe even poser. Also there are a few "space junkies" (no disrespect meant) hanging around these forums some of them are quite knowledgeable. Try to find out who they are and talk with them that is deveolop a list of contacts that share your interest.
