I had exactly the same problem. Yes, I had no problem installing the upgrade after I reloaded Bryce and yes you can lose your custom objects, materials and textures. I don't think the uninstall will delete the materials you store in the specific "User" folder but it will definitely delete everything else. To play it safe copy all of your custom materials to the "User" folders. You can then go into the Preset subdirectory and move user.mat, user.obp, and user.bst to another directory. Also if you have custom skys then move SkyPresets.bak as well. After this you can uninstall Bryce, reinstall it and install the upgrade and then move the user files back into the new Presets directory. There have been a number of complaints regarding the upgrade. Personally I haven't had problems and the new features while modest are still interesting. In any case you should look over some of the older threads as well as the posts in egroups to make your own decision.

I am not having a good day... (see earlier post)! I am trying to install the 4.1 upgrade for Bryce. I keep getting a message that it can not find my previous version (loaded on my cp and application cd in drive). The directions at Corel say to reload Bryce if you have a problem. If I do this will I lose all my "User" objects and materials (see problem posted earlier)?
