I've been getting Corel news emails about 1 a month. They are pushing the new office suite and giving away monthly clipart. This month's water tower and fence might also be useful for 2d images in Bryce. You can check out this months freebies at the link provided.

The website has been redesigned and bryce updates are findable again from the support pages

FTP is still setup at Corel though I could not find a main page that referred to it. You can still get updates for bryce 3,4, and 5 through this FTP link.

I had no choice but to register Bryce 5 when I bought it, because when i came home and installed it, the serial number they gave didn't work, I had to call them and use up 45 minutes of long ditance to get a working serial number... I love Bryce, but I hate Corel with a huge passion. Unless Corel releases a Bryce 6, I will never even consider Corel for any software purchases...They just make a bunch of crap anyway. The only good software they offer is stuff they aquired from buying it from someone else...Sorry, I just have a deep problem with Corel..... Thanks for the tip..

Thanks for the info on the B5 updates :)

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 06 May 2004 at 8:08 PM

Yeah, Corel had big troubles with serial numbers between versions 4 and 5! I didn't have any troubles with mine, but I waited a while after B5 had came out before I got it, don't know if that had anything to do with it... Corel. I would like to get Painter. I played with it at my buddys work for a little bit, I was very impressed. I guess I could do the same things in my Photoshop, but it just takes more prep time. AS

It happens when you upgrade from B3D to B5. the serial number they give you is for upgrading from B4 and so registration is indeed manditory. It also initiates your free 30 days of free "help" from Corel which I thought was a rip too, but chances are I wouldn't have used the service anyway I'm happy enough with it as it is as I couldn't afford to upgrade right now anyway. - TJ

Everytime I've tried to register a corel product through the software itself (Bryce, Painter...), my computer blitzed. Irritating.

Can someone explain to me what a download manager is. When I went to do a dl, the pop up box came up,but I click those "Do you want to run" boxes off always.

I went the same route as Kaom did when upgrading from Bryce 4 to 5 where you had to give them the serial number that came with the software and they replaced that one with another. It's a good thing I wrote it down somewhere safe where it wont get lost but I can't remember where that place was. dBgrafix, if you're using MSN Explorer it brings its own download manager which you can use instead of the download dialog window. It gives you a download progress report as you download and tells you how much time is left to the download.

Sorry I have an old copy of FTPro. I haven't seen download manager in a long time but I believe it has to do with FTP. I think the easy answer if you're having problems is to right click on the link and choose "save as" then pick a folder to store the file in.
