If you are like me and think that it's cruel of DAZ to delay the release of the G.I.R.L. then here's another taster to whet you appetite. (Help's if you can read French) http://www.vocanson.com/tm/A/A5_reportages/2004/creation/goossens/01_goossens.htm http://www.vocanson.com/tm/A/A5_reportages/2004/creation/goossens/02_goossens.htm http://www.vocanson.com/tm/A/A5_reportages/2004/creation/goossens/03_goossens.htm http://www.vocanson.com/tm/A/A5_reportages/2004/creation/goossens/04_goossens.htm

Um, they really want to sell to all of us! They are just testing the hell out of her first, to avoid problems after the release. Even the participating artists don't have her yet either. Besides, with Lady Little Fox cranking out so much stuff for Krystal, a breather is ok in my book! LOL!!

She reminds me ALOT of Sara... Dunno why.

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 06 May 2004 at 6:30 PM

That's because Sara and Alexa both found their roots in GIRL...

They have to rig her for Poser before release. The figure was originally set up in 3DS Max, and as I understand it, even there her bone structure was a bit unorthodox, particularly for the arms and shoulders.

I think she was setup in lightwave, but I could be wrong...

Modeled in Lightwave, rigged and rendered in 3DS Max.

Here's Goossens' original thread at the CGChannel forum that started the whole Poser 'toon figure craze ....

I hope by "Poserizing" her we don't loose too much. I'd love to see a comparison of the "Poserized" version of her and then a version done with this new weight mapping they're talking about and see what the difference really is.

Kinda makes you wonder why he modeled her in lightwave, and then rigged her in 3ds max...

There is an English translation, albeit an imperfect one, available by clicking on the Union Jack at the bottom of the first page
