Over in free stuff.. a cylon raider. There are a few modelng things that are JUST a tad off, but this has opening and lowering landing gear, and entryway as well! Warning, in P5 it's gonna look for bum files, and you need to point to the jpgs supplied. I also fixed the materials to look a littl ebetter in P5.. also, plug the bump maps into the displacement map node instead for a more realistic look. (I might upsize the jpegs, and see if that makes it look even cleaner. Here's a render in P5, with some post background effects. It look BETTER then they did in the original series! EXCELLENT 1st model! (BTW I have this image in 1280x1024 if someone wants a larger desktop wallpaper of it...)

Fantastic. You made this Garee? Whoever did is doing good stuff. Ever see the Futurama with Cylon and Garfunkle - that still cracks me up.

No someone else did.. I am working on some minor issues that it has. Along the front corners, there are holes where the polys meet. I'm not sure what's up with that. I suspect smoothing it turned on, and am looking into fixing that for it. (Looks like the points weren't merged before saving it out) I also modeled some more correct front detail for a model I was going to convert, and made them now props for his MUCH better modeled version. I'm guessing, but it look like it was originally a prop, with prop parents, and then it was renamed to be a character.

well, I modelled it, and it was my first modelling job (other than fooling around with little learning projects.) it was imported into P4 as an object, minus the parts that needed to be parented to ALREADY moving parts on the obj. like the INITIAL segment on the landing gear was part of the obj...then the secondary, tertiary, and quat(however it's said) parts were parented TO the INITIAL segment. same with the hatch parented to the moving Canopy. yep...it's a crude figure, but it works. I'm just learning all this stuff. Garee...that render is AWESOME!! (did you post it to the Galleries!!???) (I posted a render in the galleries earlier this week) anyway, my comp is old and can't handle P5, but I appreciate any add-ons and any improvements you wanna make for the raider!! it's FREE after all!!! just give me credit of course!! and keep it free. =)) and make a Battlestar!!! haha j/k .peace on. -grimnir (aka Wolfheathen)

I actually have a Base star mesh already here and it shouldn't have any moving parts.. ;) It's not a crude model by any means, and is well done. I have the original plastic models here, and have made a prop for the front detailing. The headlights are actually lower then the "turn signal" like protrusions next to them, and those are actually almost pointed. Your mesh is sound, but for some reason, when it renders, the front edges have openings, as if the polygons arenot connected but just close to each other, but I know that they are. I unified the points, and it still occurs. I'll send you the updates as I complete them, and you can add them to your pack, rather then have a main pack, and a addon "fix" kinda thing. It'll get lost over time. great job!

Yep, excellent modelling job- everytime I see it rendered, it looks just like a plastic model... which is a good thing. :) --John

Very cool Render!!! I love the atmospheric diffusion!!! =)) So, is that the Cylon Homeworld?? Or Caprica, getting shelacked? They showed clips of Cylon (planet) briefly in the series...it would be cool to see someone take on a Cylon city! Thanks for enjoying the model!!! Great to see it's having so much fun!!! -grimnir (aka Wolfheathen)

Hadn't given much thought as to if it were the homeworld.. or a future homeworld as it were.... However, the comment by RETIRED has given me some inspiration.... think I may attempt an "attack scene" as a follow up. It's gonna depend on how well I can get it to turn out.. :)
