Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
I had this error several times. In my experience this is due to a) an object with false mesh data, this object is either badly converted or someone has been manually altering the file (in a text editor or something) b) I also had this error a lot while trying to use a specific texture map. I am not sure how or why though, but everytime I tried to apply that texture map I got the error and had to restart Poser... The Engineer.
heyas; 'caught c exception error' is just fancy programmer language for 'oops!' you get that every time there is an error, it really doesn't mean anything specific. the obj may be corrupted. possibly a bad download, or maybe an incompatible obj format? try opening the obj in something else, like 3d explorer or uvmapper. see if it is okay. if it is... hmmm... check the group names and materials, poser doesn't like spaces and special characters in them.
Well I was able to open the file in UVMapper, so I guess the file's intact. It must be something about it that Poser doesn't like. How do you check the group names etc.? By the way, the file I'm trying to import is the combat boots from freestuff. Can someone do me a favor & see if you get the same problem with it?
I had the same message by trying to use clothes (in the character librairy ). It was a dress i downloaded somewhere, and which was perfectly working; and suddenly, it stopped working, with this error, and a lot of other clothes stoped working too. I have an error, poser also says there is a lack of memory (i have 256), and everything is in my window disappears, including, character, light, etc etc.. what should i do..?

Can anyone please explain to me what this error message means? I recently downloaded an obj. file and when I try to import it into Poser4 I get this error message "Caught C exception access_violation trapped at 167:f000c8". If anyone has any insight as to what this means I would appreciate the help. Thanks.
