Subject: Purging IK from a CR2 donnor

Mitch1 ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 7:57 PM ยท edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 5:40 PM

Basically I had to use a figure CR2 as a donnor for my socks. Now what part I delete from the CR2 so they don't load with IK? Also how do I get rid of all the unnecesary bodyparts?

You can delete the IK chain with the Hierarchy Editor and delete unwanted bones in the Set-Up Room if you have ProPack or Poser 5. BTW, Dont have IK on when you delete them. It screws things up sometimes!

I did it but for some reson the soks seem to conform just a tad worst like they don't line up as perfect as beore.

Make sure the body parts are totally zerod and then "Memorize" the figure.

If all you want to do is have IK turned off when the figure loads (re post 1.), all you need to do is edit two words; inkyChain RightLeg { on name RightLeg addLink rShin:6 goal rFoot:6 linkWeight 0 1 } change to; inkyChain RightLeg { off Most text editors will allow you to make this change.

Thanks nomouse, I think I'd like to get rid of it since it is a figure. Lynn, what would be the steps order? Zero body, then memorize figure in Poser room, then go to the setup room, delete bones and IK, go back to poser room, restore figure and save to library?

The order sounds fine. Best would be to zero > memorize > delete the IK chain (not in set-up room). Maybe even save a new cr2 and then go in the set-up room and delete the bones you dont need. Exit the set-up room and save a new cr2 which will give you a newwer obj in that folder. BTW, as an example. If I'm makeing something like socks I use the closest doner. (pants, shoes, or even better... socks that have been made to conform to the figure) So then I dont have to delete all the fingures and upper body parts. That can take a while and slow Poser down and even crash it. You may even have IK chains for the arms.
