THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Model req: '63 Corvette

Anyone know where I can find this model? My dad is building a 63 vette race car, and I'd like to get a 3d model of one to try out various paint schemes. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

They have a couple of different '64 vettes at TurboSquid, close to $70 per. As for free models, good luck. You could try searching for 3d database sites using a search engine such as Google. Another way you could go, if you can't find a model, is to go to the modeling forum and make a request. Some great modelers hang out there!

Considering that hundreds of hours go into modelling a car, $70 for a good 3d model of a vette is a bargain. If you paid someone even $8.00 an hour to model you a car, it would cost you at least $800.00. I'd put a request up in the Rhino and Max forums.

Ask at the Modeling or Wings3D forum and you might get one made for free.
(I'd be willing to give it a shot, but have got enough things going on as it is.)
However don't expect perfection when asking for things on short notice (unless you're paying $$$.) Likewise - you still might get pleasantly suprised, as most freebie modelers usually try to prove their talents when taking on a challenge.

Just remember these three things if you want a freebie:

  1. Ask politely. This one should be obvious.
  2. Ask within reason. Don't expect much or anything on a tight schedule. Having some pictures, blueprints, or links to references of what you want helps in guiding the modeler.
  3. No cajoling, begging, crying, pleading, etc. Nothing turns people off to a project (especially one that's gratis) faster than somebody thats annoying and whiny.

I found this blueprint at SMCars forum (might need to register, but it's free.) It's a '67, but should still be close enough to work. They also have a '63 blueprint, but it's a bit cluttered for modeling work as it has an interior detail cutout/overlay.

Not sure if there is a 63 vette there or not.... but check the link above. There are lots of vehicles there.

There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.

A whiner is about as useful as a one-legged man at an arse kicking contest.

Thanks for the replies. Haven't found one yet. Planit3d has a lot, but not this one. Which forums should I request one to be built? 63-67 have similar body styles, but would prefer 63 with the split rear window... although I'd be quite happy with anything up to a 67.
