Subject: Poser and vistapro

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of purchasing vistapro and I got a demo and all that. My question is, how does it work with Poser? Will a vistapro render look and be like a background picture? or will it behave like a cyclorama type thing? In short can my poser people stand on the terrain or will it look like they're floating because it's just a background.

The vistapro picture will just be a background, but you can export vista dems to use in poser (or any other 3d program). If you use the imported dem then it will be a real landscape that poser figures can interact with. The dems can be exported at different resolutions so you don`t have to have a huge dem object in poser (unless you want one). If you add a texture to a low resolution exported dem it can look quite good.

Hi Xantor, Quick question then, is it worth buying then or would I be better off with say Bryce 5 or Vue d'esprit?

Bryce 5 and Vue d'esprit do more than vistapro but they cost more too, Vue d'esprit would probably be better than bryce as it can import poser figures into it.

VistaPro can't import pz3...It does not yet allow for .3ds or .obj files or .lwo file types.....it only allows for dems & .dfx....But according the forum they are working on this. I would strongly suggest checking out the forum here....I think it would aide in your decision making.

ok, so can Poser5 import a Vistapro whatever (dems or dfx whatever they are!) and use it like a cyclorama? Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to buy it if it won't do what I want. :-)

Poser can import .dfx...keep in mind this format is very old ;). According to the VP forum...VP is working on doing major upgrades to their product. If I were you I'd invest in Vue..as Bryce is no longer "supported". As of now there will NOT be a Bryce 6.

Hello thefixer.

I agree with xantor in that Vue d'esprit will probably be the best companion for your Poser. Almost everyone using this combination seems to be happy with it and although it is more than VistaPro it is still very affordable for what it is.

Get vue 4, don't get vue 4 pro yet. (It seems they haven't yet worked out all the bugs in Pro...) You'll be able to import still poser scenes into vue, and if you get the Mover plug-in, you can import animated poser scenes into vue. You'll also be able to render 360 degree views that you can use in poser as a cyclorama, (with the right cyclorama prop).

Thanks everyone, I think you've all kind of moved me towards Vue rather than Vistapro. Thanks for all the advice. :-)
