For those of you interested, some shameless self promotion and some earlier WIP and wireframe shots from my latest post.

Cool - is that just desaturation from #3 to #4, or something else?

Nice of you to show the WIP and Bryce grid. Gives a good idea to those of us who yearn to mimic stuff like this. One thing on the postwork though,Those trees are kind of transparent. Is this the intention???

Excellent job...I am also in the process of doing several scene's for a project and one is kinda close to this...Excellent job...

Very stylish modeling, extremely fanciful, yet looks even plausible, like some vacation spot made for rich people. ;o) AS

This has got a touch of Myst about it. Nice work too.

It's a fantastic image, very much in the Myst line, very nice. But - I'm going to get shot down in flames for this - I like 3 better than 4. I like colour, and you have some great colours in your textures, why wash them out? OK, I guess it's sea-mist coming in, and it looks convincing, but everyone seems a bit chary of using strong colour. Did you mean to do a misty scene from the start, or did you bring the fog in to lose the colour? I'd have image 3 on my wall or desktop in seconds given the chance, but image 4 - I don't know, proabably not, even though it's a great piece of work. Am I abnormal?

ddruckenmiller ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 7:21 PM

@ judyk - there ain't a 'normal' person here! LOL!

woodhurst ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 8:25 PM

thanks guys!! JudyK---here is a larger version of #3. @Ddruckenmiller: in #4 I "colorized" the image to rusty yellow, and then faded it to get some of the greens in the palm trees, and also used the filter "luce" to brighten everything up/ @dBgrafix: That is the default material on Alvin's coconut tree, I actually liked the transparentness (is that a word?) of it, and the luce filter made them seem even more transparent than they are. @JudyK: color correction was probably what I messed with the most, I tried many different blending styles to keep the color that was originally there, but in the end I dont know why but I liked the washed-out lighting the most. i understand what you are saying, I almost left it as-is.

It has a kind of Myst-ish look about it.... a truly brilliant image, as always!

Woodhurst - thanks for the image; it's on my desktop and I love it! ddruckenmillar - no, I guess there ain't, but I guess I like us all just as we are ;-)

I love #3 as well! Very nice, the textures and water and mist all meld together wonderfully... Good stuff.

It also reminds me of the remake of The Time Machine, the homes of the natives he comes across. It is absolutely lovely Jordan and I like it very much. 8) Catlin

I've got to say that this is really cool looking, I also prefer the colorized version. Maybe you should post both to your gallery. I've seen other versions you posted where it was colorized and you mono chromized it or what-not, I prefer the color version in most cases. So I'd like to see you post both versions when you do this type of work. just my 2 pence.
