Subject: Help Michael v2 and cloth!

sole4ever ( ) posted Wed, 19 May 2004 at 11:12 PM · edited Tue, 03 December 2024 at 2:10 AM

Hey Everybody,
I'm new in this 3D world and i'm trying to work with poser. Unfortunately my really really bad computer couldn't deal with poser 5 so i'm stuck with poser 4 ... anyway there are thing i'd like to know, hope someone can explain to me.
How you all make clothes and characters for poser??? Is it with other 3D software?? for cloth gotta be 3d software but What if i do some texture with freehand or photoshop, 'd it work? what's the size?
About characters i guess u change some parts of the face for example let's say victoria with different lips and eyes. I can imagine how you do that with poser 5 but is it possible to do it with poser 4?

About Michael, just was wondering if someone can give me or tell me where to get michaelv2. Big thing to ask but i'm desperate. I have none male character plus i'm broke! :)

First of all, broke and you got both Poser 5 and Poser 4? Oh and there are male characters included in Poser, Since you apparently have Poser 5, you CAN use those characters (Don and Judy and the kids) in Poser 4 too, you will get a "Newer version than expected" error but that's all, they will work. Michael is for sale at Daz3d.com. Now I'm not saying that youre actually asking for a free copy of Mike, but please be aware that Renderosity has a zero tolerance policy regarding warez. Just before you say something you shouldn't :o)

As Ernyoka says, we don't condone the possession or trading of warez on this site. Poser 4 comes with a selection of humans and clothing. Poser 5 has yet another family of human figures and the content CD has even more stuff, including higher res figures. A search through freestuff will reveal an abundance of hair, clothing, and props for the figures you already have. You should read the manual and get used to the program (dress, light, and render a scene), before you try to do add-ons. If you don't know how to conform clothing, how are you going to build an article of conforming clothes? If you don't understand parenting and joints and bends and fall-off zones, it will be very difficult to build something which works in this program. Carolly Poser Coordinator

Hey, Thanks for the replyes. Good tip that i can use poser 5 characters with poser 4, thou i don't like them much. I have the softwares cuz a friend of mine bought them and let me install them to learn them... no warez! About Michael, i saw in Daz3D and it isn't expensive thanks... The one i found before was much much more (guess someone was trying to fool me) that's why i ask in here. About the cloth, i know i have tons to learn, just was curious how and with what you all make great stuff, cuz let me tell you that what i've seen in this site is way better than the software itself. Not trying to say that poser is bad but here there are great stuff!

Poser 5 will run on older, slower machines. I run p5 on verrrrry old p2, with under 160 megs of ram. (My clock speed is 200mhz) the way that I do it is (You have to have win 2000 or up) crank up the page file and have a little patience, render times can be slow, but it's worth it!

Thanks Bobcat574 for the tip. I installed poser 5 and it was sort of okay but the render was like 20 minutes or more. i'm a webdesigner so my computer is full with graphic softwares and all that with poser 5 was too much. Guess when i'll not be using other softwares too much i'll try again P5!!

Heh 20 minutes for a render isn't bad. Have you ever tried Bryce? Then you're talking slow renders. Of course if you only did a quick render with nothing special in the scene and no raytracing or volmetrics, 20 minutes IS a long time. But I've had renders that took about an hour to complete. (and then you find an error once it's done AARGH)

yeah i know 20 minutes it's nothing. Have a friend that was like 2 hours making a render and as u said..oops a tiny mistake so all over again!! I saw bryce once and i thought it was just landscapes and never imagine it was slow!?! Still nobody have told me how you all make clothes for poser... 3DMax?

There is a lot you can do within Poser! When your friend gave you Poser 4 and Poser 5, did he just give you a disk? Or did he give you the full boxes with manuals and the extra content CDs... without the templates you'll have a hard time making clothes. Carolly Poser Coordinator

Actually he just installed poser 5 in my computer and then poser 4. I have like figures, cloth, poses....etc, have no idea if "that's it" or there is much much more! Can i make cloth with poser or transform the ones that come with the software?

kbennett ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2004 at 7:39 AM

So he hasn't given you the boxes, manuals and licenses?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2004 at 9:20 AM

if that's the case it IS actually warez, even if your friend has bought his copy :o( Unless he transfers his license to you. And in that case HE isn't allowed to use it anymore.

I really have no idea.. gotta call him and see if that's the case... if he says it is warez, can i still come here and ask u stuff?? i know i shouldn't but I can't really buy a copy now and i'm just starting to see what the software is about...it's not like i'm gonna work with it!

kbennett ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2004 at 2:44 PM

I really, really suggest you read the TOS. We have a zero tolerance for warez here, and whilst I'm prepared to believe that it's ignorance in this case, the fact remains that it sounds like you're using an illegal copy of Poser. That won't go down well here and by rights we should ban your account. Kevin (kbennett) Renderosity Moderator.

Yes, it is an illegal copy and i really didn't know. I better come here again if i get a legal one. Thanks anyway.
