this may be a dumb question but with Infini D doing an animation and then sending it to the avid with an alpha key was straight forward but I just got Carrara and I cannot get it to work can any one help me. thanks

How are you rendering the final sequence out? Quicktime? Have you enabled the alpha option? Its listed under G-buffers. I only tried alpha's once and I failed. BUT I think what the best way to do this is to enable alpha under G-buffers (in the render room) and then render it as a photoshop Sequence....both the Mac and NT composer should be able to see this. I did a title once but it was a .tif sequence...and the alpha didnt render...I ended up using the AVX plug in "RGB Keyer" and that worked fine but you are correct if you are thinking that that way sucks :) What Kind of Avid are you working with? I will try to render an alpha photoshop sequence this friday and see how it works out....

thanks for your help I tried to output it as a pics sequence and it seemed to work if I first sent it to after effects and made movie turning it into A Quick time. the avid I am working on is older and does not do numbered photoshop files. does anyone know what the difference between pics animation and just a pics sequence is? thanks

I dont know but you should remember this when importing the sequence. Avid will only take names like nameXXX. If you name it job7XXX it will be confused b/c of the 7 in the name. Carrara gives you a few different choices in the naming. I know that the Apple Version since 6.0 will take jpeg sequences and @ version 9.0 on the NT it will take both tiff and photoshop sequences. Remember to selection options, autodetect sequencial files in the import menu...then you just import the first pic ie project000... Dont know if this is all or hat to you or what but I thought I would try :)
