Hi can anyone tell me what causes this ...the model is steph max ..her breasts render funny ...not smooth and round...never run into this before ??

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 5:43 PM

Steph Max? Not heard of that model. Anyhow, it's caused by a lack of polygons. Zoom in enough on any model and that's what you'll see.

Are you rendering in Poser 5, and do you have smooth polygons turned off?

I really like the charactor...can this be fixed somehow...

ronstuff ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 6:08 PM

You would not see this if you were using P5 with smoothing on because P5 actually smooths the geometry with micro-polygons - Poser 4 will not smooth the geometry itself, it will only smooth the shading, so you still see the geometry shape when in profile. If you want to stick with P4, the only solution is higher resolution meshes for the figures. In the long run I find it much cheaper to upgrade to P5 (than to buy more expensive firures), then ALL my figures render as if they were made of 100s of thousands of polygons - much higher even than the 3rd gen Mill figures do in Poser 4.

glennjan ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 6:18 PM

Well the figure is FREE so I wont be upgrading it shows because of less polys in steph 1 I will try to find a way around it but this figure is going to get me to use stephanie again ...I gave up a long time ago on her and didnt go to steph3 because of my disatisfaction with it

ronstuff ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 6:35 PM

Actually, the figure is not free because it is Stephanie (from DAZ) - at least the geometry is. Steph Max is a wonderful set of morphs that add a lot of value to Stephanie, but you must already own the Stephanie geometry to use them. Migal and Netherworks did a great job on the set, and I highly recommend it. Try rendering it is Poser 5 and you will be amazed at the quality.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 6:51 PM

Ron, I'm grabbing it now. A few weeks ago I asked if there were any morphs available for Stephanie, and Migal kindly agreed to upload this set. I also use P5, so I'm looking forward to some great results.

I see this in certain renders of macromastic persuasion, but it seems to happen when scaling up some..

yes I should have said the morphs were free I already have stephanie from daz

ronstuff ( ) posted Sat, 05 June 2004 at 8:36 PM

I'm really glad they decided to share it. I've always liked Steph as a versatile figure because she can have so many different looks and moods. To me Victoria is nice but always identifiable as Vicky. These morphs add even more to that capability.

"... but you must already own the Stephanie geometry to use them." True, but remember that Daz has a sale on at the moment (ends tomorrow?). Steph 1 is less than $20, less still if you are PC member. An incredible deal for a model of this calibre (Migal's S Max, not Steph 1), as the sum total is still < $20. And this model is truly unique, all new-from-the-ground-up morphs from Migal, not just rehashes of prior Daz morphs, so there is no Vicky- or Steph-look to the model. The texture alone would cost > $20 from Daz..., not to mention the JCM, gravity effects, huge list of MATs, etc., etc.

Wow.. what a great set of morphs and textures. Thanks, now it is time to dust off Stephanie and really put her through her paces.
