Working on technique for creating lightning in scenes. Comments welcome.

yie! looks spectacular! does it also work with the scene being darker around the bolt?

  1. There is no sun. 2. The ambient light is uniform and set very low. 3. The global exposure is set low. 4. The sky is not the sky, it's a giant flatted sphere with a dark cloud texture. 5. There is a 3000 watt white point light hanging in mid air. 6. The bolt itself was hand drawn in Photopaint. 7. A lens flare was added in Photopaint where the bolt hits the tree. 8. The mist and rain are stock Photopaint weather filters. bloodsong: Just skip step 8 and the whole scene becomes much darker. If you want it darker around the bolt, just lower the watts on the point light. -SMT
